Fasten full face mask
WARNING
Facial hair under the mask seal can cause leaks.
The mask should not be used by people with
beards and sideburns. There is danger of poison-
ing.
The bow of glasses under the mask seal also cau-
ses leaks. A spectacle frame should be used in
such cases.
Check the full face mask to ensure that the head
strap is securely fastened, that the nose cup and
the exhalation valve cover are correctly and that
all other parts are in good condition.
If fitted, push spectacle frame into the desired
position.
Remove neckband.
Loosen the straps as far as possible (figure B).
Spread the head strap, place chin in recess
(figure C), center the head strap on the head.
Make sure that the head strap rests flush against
the head.
Make sure that neither hair nor head strap impair
the sealing frame, that the sealing frame contacts
the face evenly and adjusts to its contours.
First, tighten both neckbands (figure D, step 1),
then tighten the temple straps (figure D, step 2)
evenly towards the back of the head so that the
middle of the head strap remains on the middle of
the head (figure E).
Only tighten the front strap (figure D, step 3) if
required. Breathe normally.
Spent air should leave the exhalation valve easily.
Check for leaks:
— Seal the mask connection and breathe in until
a vacuum is produced.
— Briefly hold your breath: the vacuum must be
maintained. If it is not, the head strap must be
tightened further.
— The leak test must be repeated twice.
WARNING
The mask should only be used if perfectly tight,
otherwise there is danger of poisoning!
Check the exhalation valve:
— Seal the mask connector and exhale
vigourously.
The exhaled air must escape easily, otherwise
see "Visual inspection of the exhalation valve"
on page 6.

Operation with respiratory filters
Requirements
— The ambient air must contain at least:
17 % vol. oxygen in Europe except The
Netherlands, Belgium, UK
19 % vol. oxygen in The Netherlands, Belgium,
Australia, New Zealand, UK
19.5 % vol. oxygen in the USA.
For other countries, observe national
regulations.
— Strictly follow the national regulations for the use
of respiratory equipment
(in Germany for example BGR 190,
in Australia and New Zealand for example
AS/NZS 1715:1994 "Selection, use and
maintenance of respiratory protective devices",
in the USA for example OSHA 1910:134).
— The type of pollutants must be known, chose
corresponding respiratory filter
pollutants are unknown, only use compressed
air breathing apparatus or fresh air hose
breathing apparatus with the mask.
WARNING
Not ventilated containers, cavities, channels etc.
may not be entered with the filter apparatus.
Filter apparatus may only be used, when the
ambient air is neither dangerous to life nor health.
1)
Note the corresponding Instructions for Use.
Screw in the respiratory filter
Entirely remove the sealing strip and firmly screw
in the respiratory filter clockwise.
Operating period
The operating period depends on various factors,
including the type and concentration of pollutant
and the type of filter.
Extreme operating conditions
Low temperatures
Treat lens with antimisting agent "Klar-Pilot"
prevent it from fogging up.
The exhalation valve disc may harden. Check
leaktightness of exhalation valve disc.
High temperatures
Leave the danger zone immediately if lens is
damaged.
Potentially explosive atmospheres
Treat the mask with antistatic spray or work with a
screen of water mist.
After Use
Remove respiratory filter, breathing apparatus
and/or connection tube of the power assisted
filtering device or fresh air hose breathing

Remove full face mask:
Slide your index finger under the ends of the neck
straps, press the clamps of the head harness
forwards with your thumbs to loosen them (figure
