Cleaning and Disinfection

Clean and disinfect the mask after every use. Do
not use solvents, such as acetone, alcohol, etc. to
clean the mask. Only use the approved cleaning
products and disinfectants listed below.
NOTICE
High doses and long exposure times can damage
the mask.
Cleaning
Clean the mask after every use so that it will be
ready for use by another person. Should the mask
by used exclusively by one person the cleaning
intervals can be limited to keeping the mask in a
hygienic condition.
Breathing protection equipment used by more than
one employee must be cleaned before being han-
ded on to the next person.
WARNING
The mask body must be thoroughly cleaned to
ensure that no residual skin-care products remain
on the mask body.
Otherwise the sealing will lose its elasticity and
the mask will no longer provide a snug fit. This
can cause danger of poisoning!

Maintenance Intervals (see page 6).
Visual inspection of the speech diaphragm
Dismount the speech diaphragm (see "Replacing
the speech diaphragm and O-ring" on page 7).
Visual inspection of the exhalation valve
Remove the protective cap from the mask
connector, and pull out the valve disc. Valve disc
and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean
or replace if necessary.

1)
R 53 400 with adapter
Generate a vacuum of 10 mbar.
The mask is deemed to be tight if the pressure
changes by no more than 1 mbar after 1 minute.
Otherwise continue with (2).
(2) Test with tightly fit exhalation valve
Remove the exhalation valve disc.
Press the exhalation valve plug firmly onto the
seat until it engages.
Produce a vacuum of 10 mbar. If the pressure
change after 1 minute is less than 1 mbar,
remove the exhalation valve plug, insert a new
valve disc and repeat the leak test. Otherwise
continue with (3).
(3) Leak test under water
Immerse the test head with the full face mask in
water.
Produce an excess pressure of approx. 10 mbar
and slowly rotate the test head under water.
Any leaks are revealed by air bubbles emerging
from the test head.
Remove the test head and full face mask from the
water, then repair the full face mask.
Remove the exhalation valve plug and mount the
exhalation valve disc.
Repeat the leak test.
After testing
Unscrew the adapter.
Remove mask from test head and dry if
necessary.
Put on protective cap so that it engages.

Special Maintenance Work

Leak tests must be repeated after maintenance
work and/or after replacing components.
Regular maintenance and service as well as inspec-
tions prior to using the full face mask are very
important to ensure safe use of the full face mask.
This makes it absolutely necessary to observe the
maintenance intervals.
