Peltor Ground Mechanic Headset
MT53H540F-01 GB
High-attenuating headset (hearing protector with electronic sound
input) for use in extremely noisy environments. Connects to the
aeroplane's service outlet via the Peltor adapter with Push to talk
(PTT) button. Read these instructions carefully to ensure the best
possible benefit from your Peltor product.
A) ADVANTAGES
1. Leather-clad headband for ideal comfort throughout the working
day.
2. Individually sprung headband wires of stainless steel provide
an even distribution of pressure around the ears.
3. Low, two-point fasteners and easy height adjustment with no
protruding parts.
4. Soft, wide foam-filled ear cushions with built-in pressure-relief
channels for low pressure, effective sealing and ideal comfort.
5. The double shells minimise the system's resonance frequencies
and provide more even attenuation throughout the frequency
range, making it easier to hear and understand speech.
6. Permanently
mounted
suppression.
7. Spiral polyurethane cord with standard Peltor 4-pin connector.

IMPORTANT USER INFORMATION

The headset must be used and maintained according to these
instructions.
• The Peltor Ground Mechanic headset is a CE-approved hearing
protector. Wear a hearing protector 100 % of your time in a noisy
environment!
• Always check the function of the headset before use.
• Do not store the headset at temperatures in excess of +55 ºC, for
example on a dashboard or windowsill!
• During long hours of use, the attenuating foam in the shells can
become damp, which may cause damage to the circuits. Make
sure to remove the hygiene kit and let the foam dry by placing the
headset in a position that allows ventilation.
• Clean the outside of the headset regularly with soap and warm
water. Note: Do not immerse in water!
• If the microphone arm does not provide enough friction when you
twist it, you need to replace the mike guide.
• Even high-quality headsets can wear out over time. Inspect the
headset regularly to make sure there are no cracks or leakage,
which will reduce the hearing protection. If the headset is used
continuously, check the ear cushions often.
• Certain chemical substances may be harmful to this product.
Contact Peltor for more information.
B) ASSEMBLY/CONFIGURATION
Headband (Fig. B)
Slide out the cups and place the headset over your ears so that
the ear cushions fit snugly (B:1). Adjust the height of the cups to
a snug, comfortable fit by pulling the cup up or down while holding
the headband down (B:2). The headband should lie across the top
of the head (B:3).
IMPORTANT! For the best protection, brush aside hair around the
ears so the ear cushions fit snugly against the head. Spectacle
frames should be as thin as possible and fit close to the head.
C) TECHNICAL DATA
MT53 Microphone
Electret differential microphone with excellent noise suppression. The
microphone is mounted on the microphone guide on the left side.
K132A Microphone amplifier
Supply voltage: 5–27 V
Power consumption: 20 mA
Max permitted power consumption: 25 mA
Output impedance: 160 ohms
Amplification: 10 dB/27 V (–6dB at12 V, –12dB at 5 V)
Frequency range: 290–6000 Hz –6 dB
All values were measured with a supply voltage of 27 V over 580
ohms and with 220 ohms load impedance.

HTS EARPHONES
The headset is equipped with specially selected earphones, parallel
connected for greater safety. Mounted inside the double shells, they
provide excellent sound reproduction even in noisy environments.
Frequency range: 125–8000 Hz
Individual impedance: 230 ohms
Impedance when parallel connected: 115 ohms
Output level at 0.5 V / 1 kHz: 81 dBA
Max output, continuous: 30 mW
short-term: 100 mW
(D) INPUT SIGNAL LEVEL / USAGE TIME:
Warning: The sound level from the earphones in this hearing
protector can lead to a daily exposure that exceeds the permitted
levels. The audio signal in the earphones must therefore be adapted
to the usage time. To prevent harmful levels, the input signal should
not exceed 323 mV. At a higher input voltage, the usage time must be
decreased according to diagram D:1 (x = 323 mV). An electrical input
signal level of 323 mV corresponds to 82 dB(A) equivalent sound
level (average value plus one standard deviation of the measured
sound level. See table D:2). Note: The maximum output effect of the
noise
earphones must not be exceeded.
(E) CONNECTION CORD
The headset's connection cord is a soft, spiral polyurethane cord
with rugged copper alloy wires, Kevlar® fibres for pull resistance,
and well-reinforced bending places. The connection to the adapter is
Peltor's standard J11 moulded 4-pin connector, which is compatible
with the Nexus TP120.
(F) ATTENUATION VALUES
This headset has been tested and approved according to PPE
directive 89/686/EEC and European standards EN 352-1:2002 and
EN 352-6:2002.
An "EC Type Examination Certificate" has been issued by the Finnish
Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), Topeliuksenkatu 41 a A,
FI-00250 Helsinki, Finland. ID#0403. Weight: 428 g.
Explanation of the attenuation value table:
1) Frequency in Hz. 2) Average attenuation value in dB. 3) Standard
deviation in dB. 4) APV.
