13 Installing and using the Elan Comms Cable
Introduction:
The Comms Cable can be used for
setting up the Elan via a USB port with
a laptop computer with no Bluetooth
capability or where it is not possible to
make a Bluetooth connection.
Before using the cable install the driver
file from the Elan USB software stick.
To install the Comms Cable software on a laptop computer
DO NOT use a laptop computer or similar device with an external power
supply when connected to the Elan with the comms cable.
Before installing the Comms Cable Driver Software.
1. DO NOT connect the Comms Cable to the computer
2. DO NOT launch the Elan Software Interface.

To install the Comms Cable Driver file
Put the Elan USB software stick into a spare slot in
the Laptop.
In the Folder EN
double-click on the Comms Cable driver setup
file:
CDM20814_Setup.exe.

Connect the laptop to the Elan using the Comms
Cable(USB), Comms Cable Adapter and Micro-D
Interface Cable.

In Windows Device Manager
Windows 8:
Settings > PC Info > Device Manager >
> Ports (COM &LPT)
Windows 7:
Start > Computer>System Properties> Device
Manager> Ports (COM & LPT)
Identify and make a note of the
USB Serial Port number e.g COM47
The Comms Cable is now installed.
