Attaching the Smart Guard System
To prevent personal injury,
always disconnect the Bat-
tery Pack before attaching or removing the
Smart Guard System.
Positioning the Riving Knife
(Fig. 1, Fig. 10, Fig. 11, Fig. 12)
Fully secure the Riving Knife
before using the table saw.
A loose Riving Knife may slip into the Blade and
be thrown towards you.
1. Remove the Table Insert 12. See "Removing
the Table Insert" on page 18.
2. Raise the Blade 32 as high as it will go by
rotating the Elevation Wheel 2 clockwise and
set the Blade 32 perpendicular to the Table
13, 0° on the Blade Bevel Scale 4.
3. Unlock the Riving Knife Release Lever 41 by
rotating it clockwise so that it points upward
.
4. Pull the Riving Knife 24 towards the release
lever to disengage it from the pins
NOTE: There is a slight spring force that must
be overcome to release the Riving Knife 24.
5. Slide the Riving Knife 24 up to its highest po-
sition
so that it is directly over the center
of the Blade 32.
6. Align the holes in the Riving Knife 24 with the
Riving Knife Pins 42 and ensure the Pins 42
engage the Riving Knife 24 holes. Lock the
Riving Knife Release Lever 41 by rotating it
counterclockwise

. Firmly push the Release
24
Lever 41 to secure the Riving Knife 24 then
push/pull the Riving Knife 24 to verify that it
is locked in place. The Indicator Line on the
Riving Knife Clamping Plate 43 and the Indi-
cator Line on the Riving Knife Release Lever
44 must be aligned (Fig. 12).
7. Check the alignment of the Riving Knife 24
with the Blade 32. See "Riving Knife Align-
ment" on page 37. If the Riving Knife 24
is not aligned with the Blade 32, then repeat
the process of positioning the Riving Knife
24 and make sure that the Pins 42 are fully
engaged in the Riving Knife holes.
8. Replace the Table Insert 12 and lock. See
"Installing the Table Insert" on page 18.
