3.2 Feature description
The Air Guard continuously monitors the connected breathing
air supply in accordance with the thresholds in the
DIN EN 12021 standard. For continuous monitoring, it is
necessary for the Air Guard to be permanently supplied with
breathing air.
If it is not possible to continuously apply breathing air to the
Air Guard, either the "Intelligent purging" feature (see below for

the requirements) must be used or, in the case of Air Guards
which do not meet the requirements, the Air Guard must be
permanently supplied with compressed air or switched off. The
PID 5000 may be damaged if this is not observed.
The requirements for using intelligent purging are:
Air Guard software version, PLC 2.6 and HMI 2.3 or higher

(see chapter 4.4.7)

Alarms are issued when limits are exceeded. The alarms are

transmitted to signal lamps at the front of the device. There are

additional potential-free contacts available, for example, to
give feedback on compressor control or the filling panel.
