Troubleshooting

Before bringing in your camera for service, check the following
as a guide to troubleshoot the problem. If the problem cannot be
corrected, consult with your Sony dealer.
Symptom
The power is not turned on.
The picture is not displayed on
the monitor connected to the
camera.
The live picture is not displayed. The still picture is displayed by pressing
The menu window is not
displayed.
The date and time are not
displayed.
Cannot shoot pictures.
Cannot play pictures.
The picture cannot be erased.
Picture is dark.
Picture is too bright.
The AE MODE and WB MODE
buttons do not function.
Cause
The a/? (main power) switch is set to OFF. Set the a/? switch to ON. When the ?/1 indicator lights
The AC power cord is not inserted properly
into the AC socket.
The video cable is not connected correctly. Check the connection between the camera and monitor.
The NTSC/PAL select switch is not set
correctly.
The input of the monitor is improperly set. Select video input on the monitor.
The lens iris on the camera is closed.
The AE MODE button is set to MANUAL. Press the AE MODE button to turn off the AE MODE
the CAPTURE button.
The camera head and the camera control
unit is not properly connected.
The playback picture is displayed.
The camera is in a mode other than camera
LIVE mode or PLAY mode.
The AE LOCK mode is activated.
The lithium button battery has run out.
The camera is not in camera LIVE mode.
The camera is in PLAY mode.
Maximum numbers of pictures have been
recorded on the card inserted.
The card is not initialized.
A card is not inserted into the camera.
No picture is recorded on the card.
The picture is protected.
EV compensation is set in AE AUTO
mode.
The subject is backlit.
The AE LOCK mode is activated.
EV compensation is set in AE AUTO
mode.
FLASH MODE is set to EXIT: OUTPUT
or EXIT: INPUT in the menu.
The AE LOCK mode is activated.
The AE LOCK button is pressed.
Corrective action

Insert the AC power cord firmly.

According to the color system of the monitor used, set
the NTSC/PAL select switch to the correct position.

Check the lens iris.

indicator on the LIVE button in green.

Replace it with a new lithium button battery of the same
type.
Press the LIVE button.

Erase unnecessary pictures, and shoot again, or insert a
new card.

Insert the recorded card.
Record pictures on the card.
Remove protect. (page 20)
Press the EV COMP button to turn off the indicator.
Press the EV COMP button to turn on the indicator in
green, then adjust EV compensation with the EV COMP
+/– buttons.
Press the AE LOCK button to turn off the green
indicator.
Press the EV COMP button to turn off the indicator.
Set FLASH MODE in the CAMERA SET UP menu to
OFF. (page 19)
Press the AE LOCK button to turn off the indicator.
Press the AE LOCK button to turn off the indicator.
