When the generating sets are running they deliver a high electric voltage.
- Never touch bare wires or unplugged connectors.
- Never touch the generating set with wet hands or feet.
- Never splash the equipment with any liquid or leave it outside in bad weather
and never place it on a wet floor.
- Make sure that all electric cables and connections are kept in good condition.
- Using faulty equipment can cause electric shock, electrocution and damage to
the equipment.
- Consider fitting an earth leakage circuit breaker (RCD) to protect the generating
set and the appliances if the cables are longer than 1 metre.
- Use flexible rubber sheathed cables of sufficient cross section complying with the
CEI 245-4 standard or similar cables.
- The generating set must not be connected to other power sources such as the
public electricity distribution network. In particular cases where the connection of
the genset to the electric network is allowed, it should only be carried out by a
qualified electrician. He will take into account the various appliances used, whe-
ther each is used with the distribution network or with the generating set.
- Protection against electric shock will depend on the circuit breakers specially
installed for the generating set. If they need to be replaced, the new ones must be
of the same nominal ratings and characteristics.

- Never put fuel in the tank when the generating set is running or when the engi-
ne is hot.
- Remove any fuel spillage with a clean cloth.
- Petrol is extremely flammable and its vapours are explosive. Do not smoke or
bring any naked flame or sparks close to the tank when filling it.
- Keep flammable or explosive products (petrol, oil, cloth, etc.) away from the
generating set when in operation.

- Always place the generating set on level ground to prevent the petrol in the tank
from spilling onto the engine.
- The storage and handling of fuels should be in accordance with the require-
ments of law.

- Exhaust gases contain a highly poisonous gas: carbon monoxide. Inhaling air
containing an excessive amount of this substance may cause death.
- For this reason, always operate your generating set in a well ventilated area
where thesegases cannot accumulate.
- In addition, your generating set needs good ventilation to run smoothly. Without
it, the engine will rapidly overheat and lead to accidents, damage to the gene-
rating set and to the surroundings.
- However, if indoor operation is unavoidable, make sure that suitable ventilation
is provided so that people and animals will not be affected.

- Never touch the engine or the exhaust muffler when the generating set is run-
ning or for a few minutes after it has been stopped.
- Some preserving oils are flammable. Also, some of them are dangerous if inha-
led. Ensure good ventilation. Use a protective mask for the injection.
- Hot oil scalds. Avoid contact with hot oil. Make sure that pressure in the system
has been released before taking any action. Never start or run the engine with the
oil filler cap off to avoid splashing.

- A leaky exhaust muffler can cause an increase in the noise levels of the gene-
rating set. Inspect the exhaust muffler periodically to ensure its efficiency.
- Never drain or dispose of engine oil onto the ground or into the domestic waste
water system. Use a suitable container to dispose of your used oil properly (e.g.
