Pump tube disassembly
In most cases, pump tube repair involves
priming check and plunger (17), bushing and
plunger (1) or plunger rod (5) The repair
procedure in part requires removing adapter
tube (23) and priming tube adapter (22)
from pump tube (25) In these cases, leave
pump tube (25) attached to outlet body (11)
1 Refer to fig. 4. Apply a torch to joint
between pump tube (25) and adapter
tube (23) and heat to approximately
350 °F (176 °C).
2 Attach a torque multiplier wrench to
priming tube adapter (22) and loosen
adapter tube (23)
3 After allowing adapter tube (23) to cool,
attach a Parmalee-type strap wrench
to direct the resisting torque into the
bench top
4 Heat the joint between priming tube
adapter (22) and adapter tube (23) to
approximately 350 °F (176 °C).
5 With a torque multiplier wrench,
loosen priming tube adapter (22)
from adapter tube (23)
NOTE
Pump tube consists of highly torqued
tube sections Use a torque multiplier
wrench (27), a Parmelee-type strap
wrench and a flame torch to loosen and
remove tube sections from
pump tube (25) († fig. 4)
Free highly torqued parts by applica-
tion of the following where necessary:
• Heating joints of tube sections to
350 °F (176 °C) using flame torch
Monitor temperature using an infra-
red laser heat sensor
• A torque multiplier wrench
• A Parmelee-type strap wrench
attached in an opposing direction to
the torque multiplier wrench
