3 - Electrical panel
Each Dry Cooler is equipped with electric board Q with main dis-
connector and a supporting terminal board inside a connector block
C with protection IP 55 (in the models with a single fan, the block
C is not installed); further, the fan motors have a safety electric
device.
REFER TO THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSITIONING AND FAS-
TENING THE ELECTRIC BOARD (see CHAPT. 8) FOR THE
UNITS THAT MUST OPERATE WITH HORIZONTAL AIR FLOW.
THE OPERATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT WITH MAIN DIS-
CONNECTOR IN THE OFF POSITION.
The standard power supply are:
230V/1Ph/50Hz
400V/3Ph/50Hz.
For other power supplies contact the manufacturer.
The electric connections for installing the Dry Cooler must be car-
ried out complying with the wiring diagrams of the units on the ma-
chine and with the following rules:
The electrical feeding plant must be equipped with a circuit
breaker, grounded as requested by actual norms.
Connect the unit power electrical feeding line and the optional
devices to the panel (see drawings encloses). Insert the main
power supply cable in the cable clamp, lock the clamp and test
the tightness.
Respect the color code of R/S/T phases during cable connec-
tion.
The grounding is mandatory.
The yellow/green wire must be left longer than the other ones:
in case of possible tearing, the ground connector will be the
last to be detached.
If the dry-cooler is installed together with other units, connect
everyone with a unipotential cable. Use the connection block
marked by the symbol. The cable must be yellow/green. The
cable's section area must be equal or greater than the supply
cable.
In three-phase units, the three phases must be always bal-
anced, above all with the fan speed regulator R, that can be
badly influenced by a possible significant unbalancing.
4 - Fan speed regulator R
The following optional controls are available upon request:
Modulating fan speed regulator for three-phase fans (com-
bined with board Q to control up to two set- points)
Modulating fan speed regulator for single-phase fans (com-
bined with board Q to control two set-points)
4.1 - Fan speed regulator (optional)
The fan speed regulator R is a device operating as continuous ad-
juster of the fan speed and can control up to two set--point values
for the temperature of the water exiting the Dry Cooler. The first
set-point for discharging the condensation heat produced by wa-
ter-condensed conditioning units; the second set-point for cooling
the rooms by using the free cooling capacity from the outdoor air.
The fan rotation speed is reduced by the adjuster R linearly inside
the proportional band. The adjuster R detects the temperature of
the water exiting the Dry Cooler (Twater OUT) through a probe and
is usually programmed at a set-point temperature lower than the
fluid outlet temperature. The more the temperature of the water
6
exiting the Dry cooler approaches the set-point temperature (Tsp)
set in the adjuster, the more the adjuster R slows the fan rotation
speed. For temperature lower than the set-point the fan sets in cut-
off . The temperature at the adjuster outlet is a value defined by the
customer. The temperature of the Tsp set--point is programmed as
follows:
Tsp = wished T
OUT - 5°C
water
(proportional band = 5°C)
The fan speed regulator R is definitely recommended to reduce
the noise level at night or for the operation with low outdoor tem-
peratures.
The adjuster (optional) is delivered already assembled and wired
with the board and already programmed at the standard conditions
(unless indicated differently):
three-phase models:
Tsp
(first set-point temperature)
1
Tsp
(second set-point temperature)
2
Single-phase models (adjuster combined with the board for
double set-point):
Tsp
(first set-point temperature) 25°C
1
Tsp
(second set-point temperature) 4°C
2
Connection for double set-point switching
For Dry Coolers needing to control automatically the double set-
point, the exchange between summer and winter set-points (and
vice versa) can be directly controlled by the remote air conditioner.
At the installation, therefore, it is necessary to connect the set-point
switching cable between the electric board of the Dry Cooler (when
the electric board enabled for the double set-point is installed) and
the electric board of the remote air conditioner, according to the
indications on the wiring diagram on the machine.
Use an electric cable with min. section 2x2.5 mm2, shielded type.
Max. length of the signal cable: 100 m, for other lengths contact
the manufacturer.
Without such electric connection the Dry Cooler always work refer-
ring to the first set-point (default value 25°C).
REFER TO THE DIMENSION DRAWINGS (see Enclosure D) OF
THIS MANUAL AND TO THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSITION-
ING AND FASTENING THE FAN SPEED REGULATOR (see
CHAPT. 8) FOR THE UNITS THAT MUST OPERATE WITH HORI-
ZONTAL AIR FLOW. THE OPERATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT
WITH MAIN DISCONNECTOR IN THE OFF POSITION.
ALWAYS REFER TO THE MANUALS ON THE MACHINE AND
THE UNIT WIRING DIAGRAMS FOR ANY OPERATION ON THE
FAN SPEED REGULATOR.
5 - EC Controller
The device operates as continuous adjuster of the fan speed.
Inputs/outputs:
analogue inputs to connect up to 2 sensors
24 V supply for sensors
4 digital inputs
2 programmable relay outputs
RS485 Bus (Modbus RTU)
Dry Coolers
25°C
4°C
