TUNING INTO STATIONS
e Be sure to connect the antennas.
e@Do not place the AM antenna on a metallic case including the

receiver cabinet or near a CD player, LD player, DAT recorder,

personal computer or TV set. Any of these installations will

cause noise in reception.
1. Press the tuner (FM/AM) function button.
Select the FM or AM broadcasting band.
Each time you
press this button, FM and AM
changes
alternately.

2. Tune in the desired station by pressing the C=) or CJ button.
e Manual tuning
Tap the CJ or GJ button in quick repetitions.
e Auto tuning
Press the (=) or E) button for a second or two and remove
your finger from it when the frequency starts to change.
>The frequency changes
automatically. When a station is
received, the frequency stops changing and "TUNED" appears
on the display.
e High-speed manual tuning
Press and hold the C=) or C2) button.
+The frequency changes continuously and stops when your
finger is removed from the button.
MONO button (Remote control unit only)
During FM reception: Switches between stereo and monaural
modes when listening to a stereo broadcast. If there is a lot of
noise in the stereo position, switch to MONO, and the noise will
be suppressed.
Beat cut function
If noise occurs while recording an AM broadcast, perform the
following procedures to reduce the noise.
1. Press the POWER switch on this unit so that the STANDBY
indicator lights up.
2. Turn on the power while pressing the STATION MEMORY
button. (The BEAT CUT indicator lights.)
eTo cancel the BEAT CUT function, repeat steps 1 and 2.
