Recording on tape
e@ Use only TYPE I (Normal) tapes for recording.
TYPE II (HIGH/CrO2) tapes and TYPE IV (Metal) tapes cannot be
used.
1. Load a tape for recording into deck II.
e Wind the tape past its leader portion so that the magnetic
surface is exposed.
e Recording cannot be performed on a tape if the accidental
erasure prevention tab has been broken out.
einsert the tape for recording and close the cassette door
with your hand.
2. Use the DOLBY NR ON/OFF button to select the desired
noise reduction mode.
eEach time the button is pressed, the mode changes in the
following order:

3. Press the START button, switch to the tape direction you
want to record in, and press the STOP button.
»
: Recording on side A followed by recording on side B.
When recording on side A (m), has finished, recording
on side B («#) automatically starts.
~<a: Recording on one side.
Recording is performed in the reverse (<4) direction, so
be sure to load the tape accordingly.
4. Use the Function button to select the input source.
e@For tape copying (recording from deck I to deck II), use the
tape copy function.
5. Press the REC/STOP button (e@/m).
Recording starts, and the "REC" indicator lights.
e Microphone-mixing sounds can also be recorded if desired
(see page 56).
To cancel, press the REC/STOP button (@/m) or the TAPE II stop
button (m) on the remote control unit.
NOTES:
e You cannot switch inputs during recording.
e This unit uses ALC (Auto Level Control) to automatically set
recording level.
e During recording, Sound Field Control and P.Bass do not
function, The SFC/KARAOKE button does not operate during
recording either.
Copying a tape
e Use only TYPE I (Normal) tapes for recording.
TYPE II (HIGH/CrOz) tapes and TYPE IV (Metal) tapes cannot be
used.
e@ The contents of the tape in TAPE I can be copied onto the tape
in TAPE II.
Tape copying should begin in the forward direction (>).
1. Press the TAPE (I/II) function button of the main unit to
select the cassette tape input function.
On the remote control unit, select the cassette deck input
with the Function button.
2. Load the recorded tape into TAPE I and the tape for recording
into TAPE II.
e Wind the tape forward past the leader to the start of the
magnetic coated portion.
e The tape copy mode is canceled when the end of either of
the tapes is reached, so it is advisable to use tapes of the
same length.
3. Press the COPY button.
"COPY" is displayed. The tape copy starts.
To stop copying:
Press the STOP (m) or REC/STOP (@/m) button. (On the remote
control unit, press the TAPE I or TAPE II stop (m) button.) Both
decks will stop simultaneously.
e Regardless of the Dolby NR setup, the tape created by copying
has exactly the same contents as the copy source tape.
