Fitting the basic carrier

Note
Before fitting roof railing basic carrier and basic carrier, thoroughly
clean contact area surfaces (-arrow-) using a soft cloth and an alcohol
based cleaner e.g. glass cleanser (do not use soap or cleaners
containing soap). The contact surfaces must be clean and free of oil
and grease.
1.
Unscrew respective contact area surface sealing screw from hole.
Note
Do not dispose of hole sealing screw. After removing carrier system,
reinstall sealing screw with a new seal.

Insert key -2- and turn it through 90° anticlockwise (arrow A).
2.
Remove cover -1- by pressing lightly on the rear edge (arrow B).

The basic carriers are marked on the underside with a sticker for front
and rear. The basic carriers must be fitted so that the stickers are
always on the left side of the vehicle.
WARNING
The markings must always be observed when fitting the basic
carriers on the roof.
1.
Position the basic carriers on the roof as shown.
2.
On both sides, screw the respective basic carrier base -1- with the
bolt -2-, washer -3- and positioning item -4- on the roof (9 Nm).
WARNING
The washer -3- consists of two toothed washers that interlock.
Never separate the toothed washers and always install as a pair.

Remove cover profi le -3- from profi le tube -2-, fi t carrier system
holder and secure it according to manufacturers instructions.
2.
Adapt cover profi le -3- to fi t and insert these into open areas of
T-grove of profi le tube -2-.
3.
Position cover cap -1- again, press lightly on upper area (arrow C)
when positioning.
4.
Close/lock cover cap -1.
