When working with run flat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, this operation may be very
difficult. For this reason, act as follows:
- bring the PT arm to a working position.
- place the bead breaker disc in an approximately 1 o'clock position in contact with the tyre.
- use the arm lowering control to lower the side of the tyre so that the head can be placed
in position (see Fig. W/4).
9- Insert the edge guard below the head (see Fig. W/5). In this case, the edge guard serves
two purposes, one to protect the rim but also and above all to protect the tyre bead which
during the first demounting stage is heavily tensioned on the rim. This tension could cause
cuts or damage to the surface.
10- Use the space which has been created between the rim and the tyre to introduce the
designated lever (see Fig. W/5).
NOTE. The lever insertion depth must be in proportion to the height of the tyre's sidewall.
CAUTION: When working on alloy rims, the bead lifter lever must be equipped with
the designated plastic guard.
11- Lift the rotating arm of the device and rotate it until the bead breaker disc is set to
approximately 6 (see Fig. W/6), after which, lower it again and bring the tyre bead in
line with the rim well.
WARNING: The entire circumference of the tyre must be completely broken.
If this is not the case, apply the bead breaker disc pressure to beyond 6 o'clock, also at
the points where the bead is in contact with the rim. In these stages, the lever must be
slightly tensioned by the operator.
If this operation is not sufficient, proceed with using the second arm of the device in this
way:
- Couple the second fixed arm (BPT) onto the device at 8 o'clock and adjust the position of
the bead presser disc, position the rotating arm at 4 o'clock (see Fig. W/7).
- Lower the carriage of the device so that the tyre bead is at the height of the well.
12- Lower the bead lifter lever, so as to bring the tyre bead above the head (see Fig. W/8).
Lift the bead breaker disc and move the arm of the device to its non-working position, so
as to completely clear the space above the turntable. While holding the lever down, start
the rotation of the turntable and continue until the demounting of the first bead of the
tyre is complete.
WARNING!
To prevent any damage to the tyre, it is important that all the
beads are positioned within the well.
13- Bring the PT arms to a non-working position.
WARNING: In all stages whereby the turntable has to be rotated,
the rim and the tyre must move as one to prevent damage to
valve with the sensor.
The risk of damage is very high when the sensor passes through
the tension points.
To prevent the risk of slippage, make sure that the entire
circumference of the tyre is correctly positioned within the rim
well and that the working pressure is as specified (8-10 bar).
