5.5.3 Setting Extension Damping

Function
Extension damping
Tools required:
>
710H10=2x3 Adjustment Wrench
► CAUTION! The prosthetic knee joint has to reach full extension, even at slow walking
speeds. If the 513D83=1.1X12.9X66 Compression Spring, weak is installed and the
extension assist effect is not sufficient for the patient, the strong compression spring
has to be installed again (section "Installing the compression spring" – ).
Using the adjustment wrench, adjust extension damping so that the prosthetic knee joint does
not swing too hard against the extension stop.
5.5.4 Optional: Replacing the Compression Spring
If required, the installed strong compression spring can be replaced with the weak compression
spring or omitted entirely (see the section "Scope of Delivery" – see Page 23). To prevent injur
ies due to falling, this is only permitted if the patient is able to bring the prosthetic knee joint to
full extension prior to heel strike in all situations.
To prevent damage to the product, the centring disc
knee joint using suitable pliers (see fig. 6) if the compression spring is omitted entirely.
Tools required:
>
Flat screwdriver
1) Keep the prosthetic knee joint vertical during assembly and disassembly (see fig. 6).
2) Insert the flat screwdriver
3) With the flat screwdriver, first push towards the centre until the cam of the bushing no longer
engages the groove of the clamp bracket
4) Slide the bushing out of the clamp bracket using the flat screwdriver (see fig. 5 –
5) Remove the compression spring
6) Insert the other compression spring in the bushing (see fig. 6).
7) If the centring disc
spring (see fig. 6).
8) Bring the prosthetic knee joint to 90° flexion.
9) Slide the bushing as far as possible into the clamp bracket.
10) INFORMATION: The edge of the bushing must be fully in contact with the clamp
bracket.
Press together the two ends of the bushing and slide the bushing into the clamp bracket to
the stop.
11) INFORMATION: The tube adapter will only slide into the clamp bracket if the cam of
the bushing has fully engaged in the groove of the clamp bracket. The contact surface
of the bushing to the tube adapter must be free of grease.
Use a finger to push the cam of the bushing into the groove in the clamp bracket.
12) Check the settings of the prosthetic knee joint and reaching extension with a walking test.
5.6 Finishing the Prosthesis
Required tools:

1) Tighten all screws of the prosthetic components to the specified installation torque values.
2) Verify proper functioning of the prosthesis.
