4.1.6 Measuring references

Reference positions
The reference position is the laser exit window, i.e. the front edge of the tool.
The reference position is the tripod thread on the back of the tool.
The reference position is the tripod thread on the base of the tool.
The laser range meter can measure distances from three different points of contact or measuring references.
You can switch between the laser exit window, base of the tool and thread on the underside of the tool using
the 'Measuring references' menu on the toolbar.
When screwing a measuring extension or a tripod to the base of the tool (position (9) on the product
overview), the tool will query whether a short or long measuring extension is being used or whether a different
value has to be entered. The tool automatically sets the appropriate measuring reference for the selected
measuring extension. For other purposes, such as a value for a tripod, the result from a new measurement,
a saved result or a numerical input can be used.
Offset settings
The 'Offset Value' function automatically increases or reduces all measurements by a defined value. The
offset value is set using the following options:
'New measurement': Measure a distance.
'Data': Select a saved measurement.
'Numerical input': Numerical input, e.g. a distance measured elsewhere.

4.2 Measuring with the help of triggers and timers

4.2.1 Activation and deactivation

The
icon is used to activate the trigger and the timer,
which provide assistance during the measuring process.
The trigger and timer can be combined with various
measuring functions ( → page 48).
The 'Default mode' option can be used to deactivate
the trigger and the timer.
4.2.2 Trigger'Minimal'
The tool records the shortest distance registered during continuous measurement.
Note
This measuring program is particularly helpful if a measurement to a target position has to be taken
completely plumb.

4.2.3 Measuring minimum distance

1. Press the "Measure" button once.
◁ Continuous measurement begins.
2. Press the "Measure" button again.
