Winter Operation
Chain brake maintenance
The chain brake is subject to normal
wear. It is necessary to have it serviced
and maintained regularly by trained
personnel, such as your STIHL servicing
dealer, at the following intervals:
Full-time professional
users:
Semi-professional
users (in agriculture
and construction):
Hobby and
occasional users:
every 3
months
every 6
months
every 12
months
At temperatures below +10°0
Preheat the carburetor
• Turn twist lock above rear handle
90 ° counterclockwise.
• Lift off the carburetor box cover
vertically.

• Pry the shutter (1) out of the
carburetor box cover and slide it into
the slot (2) at the bottom end of the
carburetor box cover.
[_[] The shutter must be returned to the
"summer" position at temperatures
above +20°C. This is necessary to
avoid engine running problems and
overheating.
