Cleaning the Air Filter

If there is a noticeable loss of engine
power
• Set the Master Control lever (1) to
I'--I
• Turn the twist lock (2)above the rear
handle 90 ° counterclockwise.
• Lift off the carburetor box cover (3)
vertically.
• Clean away loose dirt from around
the filter.
• Unscrewthe slotted nuts (4).
• Remove the filter.
• Separate the two halves of the filter.
• Knock the filter out on the palm of
your hand or blow it clear with
compressed air from the inside
outwards.

In case of stubborn dirt:
• Wash the filter components in
STIHL universal cleaner or a clean,
non-flammable solution (e.g. warm
soapy water) and then dry.
Do not use a brush to clean the fleece
filter.
• Always replace a damaged filter
element.
• Make sure that the choke shutter (5)
with spring is properly fitted.
• Reinstall the air filter.
