Warning! Do not leave
A
the motor running indoors.
Danger of poisoning due a
build-up of dangerous to carbon
monoxide gas!
Keep your hands and feet away
from rotating parts. Keep away
from the grass ejection chute.

7.4. Stopping the Motor

You can stop the engine by
releasing the safety handle
(Figure A item 5). An integrated
brake stops the cutting tool rotating
within 3 seconds.
8. Information concerning correct mowing
8.1. General Information about
Lawn Care
We recommend mowing your lawn
every week if possible to keep
your lawn looking its best. Mowing
your lawn regularly strengthens the
individual blades of grass and
makes your lawn more resistant.
Short grass cuttings (up to around
1 cm in length) can be left on the
lawn after mowing. Longer cuttings
should be removed so that the lawn
does not turn yellow and become
matted. If you do not attach the
grass catcher when mowing, the
brillencio lawnmower distributes
the grass cuttings cleanly from the
high rear ejection chute.
Cut your lawn for the first time in
the spring as soon as the grass be-
gins to grow and you can walk on
the lawn. If the grass has already
grown too tall, first mow in one
direction with a high cutting height
then mow at right angles to the first
cut with the required shorter cutting
height.

7.5. Putting the Rear Wheel Drive
into Operation (41 BRC, 41 BR,
43 BR, 43 BRC, 43 BR OHC, 48 BR,
48 BCR and 48 BR OHC)
Figure I item 9
To engage the rear wheel drive,
pull the coupling link for the wheel
drive (Figure I, item 9) upwards
towards the guide handle.
Release the coupling link (Figure I,
item 9) to deactivate the wheel
drive.
7.6. Putting the Vario Wheel Drive
into Operation
(Vario wheel drive with 51 BR and
51 BR OHC only)
These lawnmowers are equipped
with a vario gearbox. You can
select the speed at which you
mow the lawn (between 3 km/h
and 5,5 km/h). You can only
change the speed when the motor
8.2. Mowing
Only mow with sharp, unworn
blades so that the blades of grass
are not frayed and the lawn does
not turn yellow.
The cutting height should always
be at least 3 – 4 cm since the lower
part of the grass blade is white.
If you cut the grass too short, the
lawn will no longer appear lush
and green. The blades of grass will
also dry out too quickly above all
in the summer.
To achieve a clean cut, always
guide your lawnmower at an
appropriate speed in straight
cutting paths. The paths should
always overlap by a few centi-
metres so that you do not miss
strips of lawn.
Never lift or carry the lawnmower
when the motor is running.
If you encounter a foreign body,
switch off the motor and unplug the
spark plug connector. Check for
damage to the lawnmower and car-
ry out all necessary repairs before
you restart the motor and begin
mowing again. Inspect your lawn-
is running and the lawnmower is
moving.
To adjust the speed, move the lever
(Figure I, Item 6) in the relevant
direction ( slow
fast).
To engage the wheel drive, pull up
the coupling link for the wheel drive
(Figure I, Item 9) towards the guide
handle.
Release the coupling link (Figure I,
Item 9) to disengage the wheel drive.
Warning! Do not remove
A
or bridge the safety devices
installed on this lawnmower by the
manufacturer otherwise there is
a risk of injury and the lawnmower
motor will no longer switch off
automatically.
Warning! The cutting tool

continues to rotate for a
short time after switching off the

mower immediately if it begins to
vibrate unusually vigorously.
Note:
When working on slopes and
inclines always work diagonally to
the incline. You can prevent the
lawnmower from sliding downhill
by mowing slightly diagonally
upwards. Do not mow extremely
steep slopes and take extra care
when changing directions on
slopes.
Clean the underside of the mower
housing on a regular basis. Remove
grass residues, which make it more
difficult to start the motor and
impair the cutting quality and
ejection of grass cuttings.
Always switch off the motor before
leaving your lawnmower unattend-
ed and before pouring petrol into
the fuel tank.
8.3. Mowing with the Grass
Catcher,
Figure H
The grass catcher must be emptied
as soon as grass cuttings are left on
the lawn while mowing.
