Dear Customer
Thank you for placing your trust in a Bauerfeind product. With the ManuLoc long Plus you are wearing
a product that complies with high medical and quality standards. Please read the manual carefully and
completely. It contains important information about the use, care and disposal of the ManuLoc long Plus.
Please keep the instructions for use safe, as you may want to read them again later. If you have any
questions, please contact your physician or medical retailer.
Intended use
The ManuLoc long Plus is an anatomically contoured stabilizing orthosis. It immobilizes the entire hand
and parts of the forearm, and helps prevent undesired movements. Two lateral stays and an adaptable
metacarpal stay stabilize the forearm and metacarpus. The adjustable finger support immobilizes all four
fingers. Large Velcro fastenings fix the orthosis

Caution
• The ManuLoc long Plus must only be worn in accordance with the specifications contained in these
instructions for use and the areas of application listed.
• To ensure the optimum fit of the ManuLoc long Plus, the size of ManuLoc long Plus required must be

determined by a trained specialist
.
• Information on the size, manufacturer, washing instructions and CE mark is located on the sewn-in label
in the insertion opening for the wide stay located on the inside of the hand (the volar stay). Only a trained
specialist may conduct the (initial) fitting of the orthosis and provide instruction.
• Use in combination with other products, e.g. as part of compression treatment, must be discussed
beforehand with your physician.
• Should you notice any unusual changes or experience discomfort, please contact your physician without
delay.
• No product liability is accepted in the event of improper use. Do not allow the product to come into
contact with ointments, lotions, or substances containing grease or acids.
• No side effects that affect the entire body have been reported to date. Correct usage/fitting is assumed.
Any medical aids – such as supports and orthoses – applied externally to the body can, if tightened
excessively, lead to local pressure symptoms or, rarely, constrict the underlying blood vessels or nerves.
Contraindications
No clinically significant hypersensitive reactions have been reported to date. If you have any of the
following conditions, such aids should only be fitted and worn after consultation with your physician:
– Skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of the body, particularly if inflammation is present. Likewise,
any raised scars with swelling, redness and excessive heat build-up
– Impaired sensation and circulatory disorders of the arm/hand, e.g. in the case of diabetes mellitus.
– Impaired lymph drainage – including soft tissue swellings of uncertain origin located away from the
fitted aid.
Application instructions
Putting on the ManuLoc long Plus
Start by loosening the four Velcro straps on the lower arm splint and the Velcro strap on the finger
support. Place the ManuLoc long Plus on the correct hand. The straps should be located on the top of the
lower arm and on the back of the hand. First, close the wide strap in the wrist area, then move up the arm,
fastening the straps in order. Fasten the slim strap on the back of the hand, then the strap adjacent to it by
wrapping it around the mid-joints of the fingers and velcroing it to the underside of the finger support.
Taking off the ManuLoc long Plus
Undo the straps on the lower arm splint, starting at the finger support and finishing at the lower arm. Take
off the ManuLoc long Plus.

Cleaning instructions
Never expose the ManuLoc long Plus to direct heat (e.g. heaters, sunlight, in your car, etc.)! This may
damage the material, which can impair the effectiveness.
Hand wash the product at 30 °C (we recommend you use liquid detergent). Please note the following:
• Remove the Velcro straps if possible, or fasten them securely in position.
• Spin the product (in a mesh bag if possible) at a maximum of 500 r.p.m. and air dry it (do not dry it in a
tumble-dryer).
This product has been tested by our in-house quality management system. If you have any complaints,
please contact your medical retailer only. Please note that only clean goods can be dealt with.

Maintenance instructions
If handled and cared for correctly, the product is practically maintenance-free.
Technical specifications/parameters
The ManuLoc long Plus is a stabilizing orthosis for the lower arm, wrist and fingers. It consists of a long
splint for the metacarpus and lower arm and a removable hand and finger support. The straps on the
lower arm splint are detachable. The straps and the finger support are available as spare parts.
Notes on reuse
This product is intended for your treatment only and has been adjusted specifically for you. For this
reason, do not pass the ManuLoc long Plus on to other people.
Warranty
The statutory regulations of the country of purchase apply. Where relevant, the country-specific warranty
regulations between the buyer and retailer apply. Please contact the retailer from whom you obtained the
product directly in the event of a potential claim under the warranty.
Please do not make any alterations to the product yourself. This particularly applies to products that have
been individually adjusted by a trained specialist. Please follow our instructions for use and care. Failure
to follow the instructions can limit the warranty.
Disposal
You can dispose of the product in accordance with national legal requirements.

Specialists
Assembly and fitting instructions
– Only a specialist may conduct the fitting or assembly.
– Check the optimal and individual fit of the ManuLoc long Plus at the first fitting, and adjust if necessary.
– Anatomically contoured aluminum stays can be individually adjusted to the patient. To do this, carefully
remove the stays from the insertion pockets, shape them to the anatomy of the patient, and reinsert the
three stays into the pockets provided.
– The finger support is supplied in a neutral position and can be bent into the required position (e.g. the
intrinsic plus position) depending on the treatment (at the height of the metacarpophalangeal joints).
– In the case of an assembled orthosis, adapt the dorsal extension angle in the wrist and the palmar flexion
angle in the metacarpophalangeal joints. To do this, form the required support with your fingers in order to
define the bending edge.
– Practice the correct procedure for putting on the orthosis with the patient.
– No improper modifications may be made to the product. Failure to comply with this requirement may
adversely affect the medical effectiveness of the product, thereby voiding any product liability.
