Safety instructions for installation

DANGER
1.
Install the equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the applicable standards and
regulations.
2.
The connections of the TH01-Ex transmitter must be made so that they meet at least protection class IP20
according to IEC 60529:1989.
3.
Because of the high surface resistance (R > 1 GOhm), the device must be operated and serviced so that no
dangerous electrical discharge can be expected.
4.
If the function requires that the intrinsically safe power circuit has to be earthed, it may only be connected to
ground at one point.
5.
If a device with an intrinsically safe power circuit is connected to the transmitter, DIN VDE 0165/08.98 (=EN
60 079-14/1997 and IEC 60 079-14/1996) requires that proof be provided that the connection is intrinsically
safe.
A connection certificate must always be created for instrinsically safe power circuits.
6.
The TH01-Ex/TH101-Ex can be programmed inside the explosion zone in compliance with the connection
certificate or directly in the explosion zone using approved handheld terminals such as the HC275, or by
connecting an explosion-proof modem to the explosion-proof power circuit outside the explosion zone.

Temperature range
With the optional, two-channel version of the TH101-Ex, the two channels must be treated separately. In terms
of explosion protection, they are considered to be electrically isolated from each other up to a combined voltage
of 60 V.
1)
The TH01-Ex and TH101-Ex temperature transmitters, installed in zone 1, can also be powered by
an ia instead of an ib supply device.
If a transmitter in zone 1 is powered with a connected ia device from the non-explosive area, this may
only be done via zone 1 and zone 2.
