9 Switching the Trimmer On/Off

Removing the Connecting
Cable Plug
► Grip the connecting cable plug (1) with your
hand.
► Pull the plug (1) out of the socket (2).

Switching On
► Hold the trimmer firmly with your right hand on
the control handle – wrap your thumb around
the handle.
► Hold the trimmer with the other hand on the
left handle - wrap your thumb around the left
handle.

► Push the retaining latch (1) with your thumb to
position
.
► Depress the trigger lockout (2) with your hand
and hold it there.
► Pull the trigger (3) with your index finger and
hold it there.
The motor accelerates and the cutting attach‐
ment rotates.
The speed of the cutting attachment is controlled
by the trigger (3).
The trimmer recognizes the cutting attachment
being used and adjusts the maximum speed
automatically.

Switching Off
► Release the trigger and trigger lockout lever at
the same time.

► Wait for the cutting attachment to come to a
standstill.
► If the cutting attachment continues to rotate:
Pull connecting cable plug out of the socket
and contact your STIHL servicing dealer.
The trimmer has a malfunction.
► Push the retaining latch into position .

10 Testing the Trimmer

10.1

Checking the Controls

Trigger lockout lever and trigger
► Pull the connecting cable plug out of the
socket.
► Push the retaining latch into position .
► Attempt to pull the trigger without depressing
the lockout lever.
► If the trigger can be pulled: Do not use your
trimmer and contact your STIHL servicing
dealer.
Retaining latch or trigger lockout is faulty.
► Push the retaining latch into position
► Depress the trigger lockout lever and hold it in
that position.
► Pull the trigger.
► Release the trigger and trigger lockout lever.
► If the trigger or trigger lockout is stiff or does
not spring back to the idle position: Do not use
your trimmer and contact your STIHL servicing
dealer.
Trigger or trigger lockout is faulty.
Switching on the trimmer
► Insert the connecting cable plug.
► Depress the trigger lockout lever and hold it in
that position.
► Pull the trigger and hold it there.
The cutting attachment rotates.
► If 3 LEDs on the battery flash red: Pull con‐
necting cable plug out of the socket and con‐
tact your STIHL servicing dealer.
There is a malfunction in the trimmer.
► Release the trigger and trigger lockout lever.
The cutting attachment comes to a standstill.
► If the cutting attachment continues to rotate:
Pull connecting cable plug out of the socket
and contact your STIHL servicing dealer.
The trimmer has a malfunction.
