6.1
Operating the engine
DANGER!
Risk of poisoning
The engine exhaust gases
contain carbon monoxide
that can kill a person within
a few minutes.

Operate the engine only
outdoors, never in a
closed room.
■
Do not inhale the engine
exhaust gases.
■
Switch off the engine if
you feel nauseous,
dizzy or weak when us-
ing this appliance. Im-
mediately consult a doc-
tor.

Starting the engine (07)
Before starting
■
Place the brushcutter level and free of
obstacles on the ground. The cutting tool
must not be touching any objects or the
ground.
During starting
■
Do not stand on the shaft to avoid damage to
the shaft and/or the drive shaft inside the
shaft.
■
Ensure that you have a stable stance and
hold the brushcutter firmly at the housing
flange.

RUN
Cold start
If the engine is cold, i.e. if it has not been in use
for more than 5 minutes, a "cold start" is carried
out.
1. Move ON/OFF switch (07/1) to the START
position.
2. Setting the throttle lever:
■
Press and hold throttle lever detent
(07/2).
■
Press throttle lever (07/3).
3. Move choke lever (07/4) to CHOKE.
4. Press primer (07/5) approx. 7 to 10 times
briefly and firmly.
5. Starting the engine:
■
Press the appliance firmly onto the
ground with one hand.
■
With the other hand, pull starter handle
(07/6), first carefully and slowly until res-
istance is felt, and then firmly and quickly
upwards until resistance is felt again (ap-
prox. 1 arm length).
■
Allow the starter rope to coil up again, but
without releasing the starter handle.
■
Repeat the previous step several times
until the engine starts, but stalls again.
6. Move choke lever to RUN:
■
Press the appliance firmly onto the
ground with one hand.
■
With the other hand, pull starter handle
(07/6), first carefully and slowly until res-
istance is felt, and then firmly and quickly
upwards until resistance is felt again (ap-
prox. 1 arm length).
■
Allow the starter rope to coil up again, but
without releasing the starter handle.
■
Repeat the previous step several times
until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
7. Allow the engine to warm up for a few
minutes.
8. Press the throttle lever briefly to disengage
the throttle lever detent. The motor runs at
idle speed.
Note: Press the throttle lever again if the en-
gine no longer runs smoothly.
