DESCRIPTION
The GA/N series of hot air generators is designed for heating me-
dium and large ventilated premises, for which a fixed or mobile heating
system is required.
GA/N space heaters are to be run on heating with methane (G20,
G25) or L.P.G. (butane G30 and propane G31) according to different
gas supply pressures that must be in conformity with the national laws
of European Community's countries. Gases to be used in each country
of the Community are indicated in Tab. I together with the supply pres-
sures, the according category (which indicates the two previous infor-
mation that is to say the kind of gas and the supply pressure), the regu-
lation of the gas valves group and the prearrangement of the regulation
elements (insertion of a possible diaphragm for the gas efflux, possible
exclusion of the gas valves group).
The GA/N heater is supplied by Biemmedue S.p.A. after a complete
functional test and it's therefore prearranged for one of the working ca-
tegories indicated in Tab. I: the adhesive label applied on the valves
group indicates the working category. To change category and conse-
quently the kind of gas, follow the detailed instructions indicated in sec-
tion "CHANGING TYPE OF GAS".
The GA/N hot air generators are of the direct combustion type.
The air is heated by the energy developed during combustion and
then conveyed to the environment to be heated together with the com-
bustion products, thus making available 100% of the thermal power
produced. The environment must be suitably ventilated in order to en-
sure adequate air circulation.
Various safety devices (electronic control unit, manual-reset
overheating thermostat, air pressure switch, gas pressure switch) trip
in the event of serious malfunction. The electronic burner control unit
trips if the flame is irregular or goes out. The manual-reset safety ther-
mostat trips when the temperature in the combustion chamber exceeds
the safety limit value. The air pressure switch and, (only for the model
GA/N 100A), the gas one, will cut in if the air capacity is insufficient or
if the gas supply pressure is too low. In each of the said cases the lamp
(1) will light up and the air heater will stop working. The heater will
work again only by pressing the reset button (2, for the security ther-
mostat, 4 for all the others) (Fig. 1). Nonetheless, the cause that trigge-
red the safety device should always be sought and remedied before re-
starting the generator (cfr. "FAULTS, CAUSES AND REMEDIES").
GENERAL ADVICE
Installation, setting and use of the hot air generator must be effec-
ted in accordance with the applicable regulations and laws relating to
machine use.
The space heater must be installed at minimum 500 mm from the
floor according to the standard EN 525/1997.
It is always best to make sure:
• The instructions in this manual are carefully followed;
• The generator is not installed in an area where there is a high risk
of fire or explosions;
• No inflammable materials are stored in the vicinity;
• All precautions have been taken to prevent fires;
• The premises in which the generator is installed are sufficiently
ventilated for burner requirements;
• The air suction and/or supply pipes are not blocked in any way,
there are not sheets or covers resting on the machine or walls
and bulky objects near the generator;
• The generator is placed near a power switchboard having specifi-
cations in conformity with those declared;
• The unit is placed in a fixed position;
• The generator is regularly monitored during operation and
checked before being started up;
• At the end of each work shift the main switch is disengaged and
the gas stopcock is closed.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Warning
All the operations described in this paragraph must only
be performed by professional and skilled personnel.
POWER CONNECTIONS
Warning
The power line of the generator must feature an earth
lead and a residual current circuit breaker.
The supply cable must be connected to a switchboard
with sectioning switch.
All the control and safety devices are already electrically connec-
ted.
The following operations must now be carried out:
• Connect to the electricity supply having read the adhesive label
which details electricity supply characteristics. The power cord,
which is not supplied with the heater:
• Must be of the HO7RN-F type section 1, 5 mm
• Must be connected to the unit's electric switchboard by
means of the cable fastener (6) and connected to the termi-
nals N, L and
• Must be connected directly to a mains switchboard which
has a disconnecting switch;
• Must not be longer than 2 meters;
Warning
Check with a phase detector that the line cable is con-
nected to the terminal L and the neutral cable to the ter-
minal N.
• Connect accessories such as the room thermostat or clock to the
unit's electric switchboard: electric wire must be connected by
means of the cable fastener (5) to the terminals 4 and 5 (cfr.
Fig. 1 and "WIRING DIAGRAM").
FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS
The connection to the gas feed pipe, whose sizes must correspond
to the kind of system to be made, must be carried out by placing the
"gas ramp" as indicated in Fig. 2: the gas pipe, the interception tap and
the anti-vibration joint are not supplied with the heater and they must
be arranged by the person in charge of installation.
1. Main gas pipe
2. Cut-off valve
3. Antivibrating coupling
4. Gas valves group
I° STARTUP
Biemmedue S.p.A. supplies the GA/N heater after a complete func-
tional test and it's therefore prearranged for one of the working catego-
ries indicated in Tab. I: the adhesive label applied on the valves group
indicates the working category (usually it's the cat. I
Before starting the generator it is necessary to consult the Tab. I to
establish the original category of work, fixed compulsory from the re-
ferring europen and national rules, relating to the country of residence.
Warning
The category I
models GA/N 45A and GA/N 80A.
