REPLACING THE ACCUMULATOR DIAPHRAGM

Failure of the accumulator diaphragm (if present) does not compromise its operation but, especially
EN
with double diaphragm pumps, results in noticeable pulsing of the jet, and stresses the delivery
circuit assemblies. It is therefore advisable to have a damaged accumulator diaphragm replaced by
a specialised technician, to keep the trolley operating efficiently.
a. Undo the inflation valve cover (58) on the accumulator (57) and use the outer side of the cover itself to press
the button inside the valve (58) to discharge any residual pressure.
b. Unscrew the bolts (60) securing the accumulator cover (59).
c. Remove the accumulator cover (note the inflation valve position (58) so you can restore it to its original posi-
tion (59) and replace the accumulator membrane (61). Make sure to fit the outer edge properly into its seat.
d. Restore the accumulator cover (59) with the outer edge of the diaphragm (61) in the seat on the inside the
cover.
e. Torque the cover bolts (60) (see exploded view).
The diaphragms fail for several basic reasons:
Chemical aggression by very aggressive pumped fluid.
Diaphragm mixture not compatible with the pumped fluid.
Inadequate cleaning of the trolley after treatment; this leaves the diaphragms in extended con-
tact with the aggressive fluid. During storage, the fluid loses much of its water content, which
increases the concentration of aggressive chemicals.
Undersized intake circuit partly blocked or filter soiled or blocked.
Pumped fluid too dense.
