The list below describes many of the controls and components of the Falcon+
system. Refer to
Figure 3-1 on page
18.
Main Power Switch
The main power switch is located on the left cover, as
shown in Figure 3-1. This is the main "on/off" switch for the Falcon+ system.
UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)
The UPS supplies battery power to the
computer and monitor to allow a controlled shutdown of the Windows operating
system. The scanner should be plugged into the AC wall outlet and not the
UPS.
Host Computer
The 64-bit computer with Windows 10 operating system
houses OPEX's feature-rich CertainScan 5.0 host software.
Touchscreen Monitor
Use the monitor to log in and out of the Falcon+
system. The monitor's touchscreen controls should be used to operate the
system and run jobs.
Wireless Keyboard and Mouse with Tray
Typically, the keyboard and
mouse are only used for setting up jobs and for use with other software. Use
the touchscreen monitor for running jobs and operating the machine.
Sort Bins
Scanned items are sorted to output bins. The Falcon+ offers three,
and the FalconV+ offers five programmable sort bins. Each scanner has an
additional pass-through bin (Bin 0) for sorting large or delicate items.
Feeder
The feeder uses a combination of electromechanical devices to
control how it will receive individual pieces or stacks, singulate them, and drive
them towards the scanner.
Rescan Feeder
A mechanism that allows the operator to feed (one at a time)
items into the machine which had been rejected or the auto-feeder is not able
to feed (see
"About the Rescan Feeder" on page
85).
Conveyor
Angled roller system that edge-justifies items before entering the
feeder.
