• Remove the protective film from the second gaskets (fig. 15,
item 5) and fasten it at the other end of the plate.
"Note": The gaskets must cover the holes at the ends of
the plate :
• If the plate (fig. 15, item 1) comprises one or a series of
intermediate holes, fasten the remaining seals (fig. 15,
item 5) to cover these holes.
"Note": The intermediate gaskets must be fastened on the
plate parallel to the end seals.
"Important": The gaskets (fig. 15, item 5) must be placed
on the side opposite the marking on the plate (fig. 15, item 10).
Plate assembled
7.3.3. Installation of self-drilling and tapping screws
"Danger": The self-drilling and tapping screws (fig. 16,
item 7) must be screwed through the steel roof deck section
(fig. 16, item 8) in the support structure (fig. 16, item 9), of the
roof or siding. If one or several screws are not screwed into the
structure, re-position the screw(s) next to the support structure
(fig. 16, item 9).
Depending on the layout diagrams for the plates defined in
the preliminary study (§6), install the self-drilling and tapping
screws as described below:
• Identify the support structure located nearest the planned
mounting location.
"Important": The support structure nearest to the plate
mounting location must be no more than 500 mm from the
centre of the plate represented by the hole for installation of the
screw HM16 (fig. 15, item 11). If the distance exceeds 500 mm,
review the preliminary study (§6) to ensure the required
minimum distance.
• Place the self-drilling and tapping screws as specified in
figures 7 to 12 in accordance with the specifications of the
table given in section "4 - Description".
• Using the screwing-unscrewing drilling machine (fig. 13,
item 1) equipped with the end cap for 8 mm H head screw
(fig. 13, item 2), drill the roof deck section (fig. 16, item 8)
and the support structure (fig. 16, item 9), then screw in the
self-drilling and tapping screw until the sealing washer is
correctly pressed against the roof deck section.
"Important": If self-drilling and tapping screws are used on
either side of the ribs on the roof deck section (fig. 16, item 8),
to ensure the tear strength of the roof deck section, the self-
drilling and tapping screws (fig. 16, item 7) must be located no
more than 30 mm from the roof deck section rib (fig. 16).
Self-drilling and tapping screws in place.
7.3.4 Installation and attachment of assembled mounting plate
• Place the assembled mounting plate (fig. 17, item 1) on the
steel roof deck section (fig. 17, item 8) no more than
500 mm from the support structure.
• Centre the holes on the plate on the roof deck section ribs
(fig. 17, item 8).
• Drill the roof deck section (fig. 17, item 8) using the
screwing-unscrewing drilling machine (fig. 13, item 1)
equipped with an 8 mm diameter steel drill bit (fig. 13,
item. 3).
• Install and crimp the 7.7 mm diameter aluminium rivets
(fig. 14, item 6) using the riveting pliers (fig. 13, item 4)
equipped with the tip (fig. 13, item 5).
"Note": Each hole on the plate must be equipped with a
7.7 mm diameter rivet (fig. 14, item 6). If this is not the case,
order the necessary additional rivets from Tractel
the plate attachment procedure.
