8. Lifespan, periodic inspections,
maintenance and servicing

8.1. Lifespan

Tractel® guard trac™ or guard trac™ plus guard-
rail systems can be used on condition that, from
their date of manufacture onwards, they are:
• Used normally, in accordance with the recom-
mendations given in this manual.
GB
• Inspected periodically at least once a year by
a technician. On completion of this periodic
inspection, it must be recorded in writing that
the guard trac™ or guard trac™ plus is fit to
be returned to service.
• Stored and transported in strict compliance
with the conditions indicated in this manual.
The results of the inspection must be en-
tered on the Inspection sheet that can be
found in the centre of this manual.
Fill in the date of the next annual in-
spection on the installation's identifica-
tion plate.
NOTE: Due to its high modularity, the
guard trac™ or guard trac™ plus is an
easily repairable system. If there is any defect, it
must be put out of service to prevent any use,
then contact Tractel® or an authorised service
provider to define the components to be re-
placed.
8.2. Post-installation, annual inspection
and maintenance
An inspection must be carried out after installa-
tion in compliance with the inspection sheet. Fill
in the date of the next annual inspection on the
installation's identification plate (fig. 25).
IMPORTANT: Tractel
son should check the guard trac™ or guard
trac™ plus guardrail every 12 months or
every time the guardrail has prevented the fall of
a person or object, and issue written authorisation
for continued use. Failing this, the guardrail
should be put out of service to prevent any further
use, and then be refurbished. This inspection
should be carried out in compliance with the
method defined by Tractel
20
or a competent per-
®
.
