6. Rotate the wrench counter-clockwise until the
tip is loose.
7. Remove the handpiece from the tip torquing
base.
8. Unscrew the used tip. Set the tip, flue, and
o-rings aside for further use or disposal at the
end of the surgical procedure.
9. Using a soft, sterile cloth, wipe the handpiece
and tip connecting surfaces to remove gross
contaminants.
To reassemble the handpiece on the sterile field,
refer to Assembly earlier in these instructions.
Disassembly After the Surgical Procedure
If you are disassembling the handpiece at the end
of the surgical procedure, follow the disassembly
procedure described above. Discard the
following items following hospital protocols for
biohazardous waste:
• manifold tubing
• flue
• handpiece o-rings
• tip
• sterile torque wrench.
Do not discard these items:
• handpiece
• standard nosecone
• sterilizable torque base.

When you have disassembled the tip from the
handpiece, clean the handpiece and the sterilizable
torque base.
