The
differential
pressure
proGAV 2.0 is fitted with a feedback mech-
anism. If targeted pressure is exerted on the
valve, due to the valve housing design an
acoustic signal (a clicking sound) is audible or
a resistance can be felt, as soon as the rotor
brake has been released. The valve thus shows
both acoustically and haptically when the pres-
sure is sufficient for uncoupling. Once this pres-
sure has been released, the rotor is once again
adjustment-proof. Although the click caused by
releasing the rotor brake is easily audible before
implantation, it may be considerably reduced
after implantation and the filling of the valve
depending on its position and the condition of
the implant surroundings. Normally, however, it
should be audible to the patient or by using a
stethoscope.

Checking after adjustment
After adjusting the valve opening pressure, it is
recommended to check the set pressure level.
To do this, proceed as in Points 1 and 2. Should
the measured value not correspond with the
required pressure level, the adjustment process
should be repeated. To do this, start again at
Point 3.
proGAV Adjustment Disc
The pressure level can also be changed using
unit
of
the
the proGAV Adjustment Disc. The proGAV
Adjustment Disc is centred over the valve.
When doing so, the desired pressure level must
point in the direction of the ventricular catheter.
Slightly pressing the proGAV Adjustment Disc
onto the valve releases the rotor brake and
changes the pressure level.
To use the Adjustment Disc for adjustment, it
must be centred over the valve so that the
desired pressure level (b) points in the direction
of the inlet connector or the ventricular catheter
(c) (Fig. 10).
