Assembling the bearing and
guard
Both cut-off machines can be used with
a guard for abrasive wheel diameters of
300 or 350 mm. The TS 760 is also
available from the manufacturer in a
special version for use with abrasive
wheels of diameter 400 mm.
The bearing with guard can be mounted
on the inboard or outboard side of the
cast arm, depending on requirements.
Assembly on the inboard side is
recommended for freehand cutting on
account of the better balance; outboard
mounting is recommended when the
machine is mounted on a STIHL cut-off
machine cart.

Inboard mounting
: Fit the V-belt (4) on the V-belt
pulley (6).
: Line up the threaded bores in the
bearing plate (7) with the slots in the
cast arm (5).
: Fit the V-belt guard (8).
: Screw in the hexagon bolts (2) as
far as the stop, but do not tighten
them yet.
Continue as described in the chapter
"Tensioning the V-belt".

Outboard mounting
: Fit the V-belt (4) on the V-belt
pulley (6).
: Line up the threaded bores in the
bearing plate (7) with the slots in the
cast arm (5).
: Fit the V-belt guard (8) on the
inboard side.
: Screw in the hexagon bolts (2) as
far as the stop, but do not tighten
them yet.
