Safety information
These instructions for use are available in further languages and can be
downloaded in electronic form via the database for technical documentation
(www.draeger.com/ifu) or a printed version can be ordered free of charge via
Dräger.
1.1
General safety instructions
–
Before using this product, carefully read these Instructions for Use and
those of the associated products.
–
Strictly follow the Instructions for Use. The user must fully understand and
strictly observe the instructions. Use the product only for the purposes
specified in the Intended use section of this document.
–
Do not dispose of the Instructions for Use. Ensure that they are retained and
appropriately used by the product user.
–
Comply with all local and national rules and regulations associated with this
product.
–
Maintenance work not described in these instructions for use may only be
carried out by Dräger or by specialist personnel trained by Dräger.
–
Dräger recommends concluding a service contract with Dräger and having
all maintenance work performed by Dräger.
–
Use only genuine Dräger spare parts and accessories. Otherwise the proper
functioning of the product may be impaired.
–
Do not use a faulty or incomplete product. Do not modify the product.
–
The replacement of components may affect intrinsic safety.
–
After installation and after each change to the product, e.g., to the antenna,
test the signal chain by applying target gas to the sensor.
–
Do not open the battery box in a hazardous area. Alternatively, declassify
the hazardous area.
–
Do not open the gas detector in the dust hazardous area. Alternatively,
declassify the dust hazardous area.

Operating area and operating conditions
CAUTION
Risk of explosion!
The gas warning device has not been tested in environments with increased
oxygen content (> 21% O
).

► Do not use the gas warning device in such environments with increased
oxygen content.
–
Using the gas warning device in explosion-hazard areas: Instruments or
components for use in explosion-hazard areas which have been tested and
approved according to national, European, or international explosion
protection regulations may only be used under the conditions specified in
the approval and with consideration of the relevant legal regulations.
–
When using in hazardous areas, comply with the information on the
approval marking (see document "Notes on Approval", order number
93 00 909).
1.3
Commissioning
Before commissioning the gas detector, Dräger recommends the following
checks:
–
The device is aligned vertically, i.e. the antenna points either upwards or
downwards.
–
The weather cap is mounted so that the arrow on the cap points upwards,
regardless of the orientation of the antenna (Fig. D).
–
A successful bump test and a test of the signal chain were performed (see
"Bump test", page 25 and "Test of the signal chain", page 26).
–
The procedures described in the IEC 60079-29-2 standard must be
followed.

Mechanical installation
–
Comply with local, state, and national regulations and codes for the
installation of gas detection systems.
