Electrical installation
3. Select an installation location where a perfect signal transmission is
ensured. The antenna must point vertically upwards or downwards.
4. Attach the mounting bracket at the installation location of the remote
antenna.
5. Lay the antenna cable.
6. Screw the remote antenna in at the end of the antenna cable and tighten it
by hand.

WARNING
Risk of explosion!
The simultaneous connection of wired power supply and battery endangers the
intrinsic safety and leads to the expiration of the explosion protection approval.
► Do not connect the wired power supply and battery at the same time.

WARNING
Explosion hazard!
If the gas detector is opened in the dust hazardous area, an explosion may
occur.
► Do not open the gas detector in the dust hazardous area. Alternatively,
declassify the dust hazardous area.
Do not operate the gas detector with a DC power supply, but use a power
supply unit of protection Class II or NEC Class II instead.
The minimum supply voltage must be applied directly to the device (supply
lines are excluded).
For cable specifications or operational parameters, see "Technical data",
page 58.
Prerequisites:
–
Explosion-hazard areas: Power is supplied via a safety barrier, which
ensures the intrinsic safety of the gas detector.

Dräger Polytron
Observe the maximum capacitance and inductance of the cable for
connecting the safety barrier.
Dräger recommends the following safety barriers: Pepperl + Fuchs
SMART Transmitter Power Supply KFD2-STC5-Ex1 or KCD2-STC-Ex1.
Operating resources:
–
Non-hazardous areas: M25 x 1.5 cable connection, IP66/67
–
Hazardous areas: M25 x 1.5 Ex e cable connection, IP66/67

Non-hazardous areas: See A and E
–
Hazardous areas: see A and F (Used with safety barrier)
Connect the wired power supply:
1. Configure the gas detector with PolySoft for operation with wired power
supply.
2. Connect grounding cable to fastening screw for potential equalization
(Fig. A 14).
3. Prepare installation:
An empty battery box must also be removed from the housing.
a. Loosen the locking screw (Fig. A 11).
b. Turn the housing cover (Fig. A 1) approx. 20° counterclockwise and
remove it.
c. Pull out the battery box (Fig. A 2).
d. Remove both fastening screws for the trim plate (Fig. A 8).
e. Pull out the trim plate.
f.
Fit the cable gland. Follow the documentation of the cable gland
manufacturer.
4. Connect the connection cable:
a. Fit the 2-wire connection cable in the cable gland, cut to length and strip
insulation (approx. 80 mm).
b. Connect both wires of the connecting cable to connection terminals.
Observe polarity.
5. Complete the installation:
a. Insert the trim plate.
b. Fix the trim plate with both fastening screws.
