BASIC TABLE SAW OPERATION

Application
Use the table saw for the purposes listed below:
Straight-line cutting operations such as crosscutting, ripping, mitering, beveling, and
compound cutting
Dado with optional accessories
Cabinet making and woodworking
NOTE: This table saw is designed to cut wood and wood composition products only. Do not
cut metal. Do not cut plastics.

Safety Power Switch

NOTE: This table saw has a safety feature that
helps prevent accidental starting. When power
is cut to the saw, the tool will switch to the off
mode.
Once power is restored, the tool will need to be
turned on again.
To turn saw on: Press the green button
(Fig. 36).
To turn saw off: Press the red paddle (which
depresses the red off switch underneath)
(Fig. 36).
To prevent unauthorized use: the switch can
accommodate a padlock with a long 3/16"
diameter shackle (not included) (Fig. 37).

Using The Smart-Guard System

The SKIL Smart-Guard has been designed for
modularity, enabling the use of multiple combi-
nations of the three main components:1) Riving
Knife / Spreader, 2) Main Barrier Guard, and 3)
Anti-kickback Device (Fig.38). Additionally, the
riving knife can be quickly adjusted to any of
three positions, depending on the application
requirement: through cut (highest), non-through
cut (middle), and dado (lowest) (Fig.39). The
three primary components of the Smart-Guard
System are designed for rapid attachment,
adjustment, and/or removal without the need
for additional tools. Any Smart-Guard compo-
nents that need to be removed to complete a
cut should be immediately reinstalled when
finished. See "Attaching the Smart Guard System" for detailed installation instructions. Always
remember that the best accident prevention is the operator's use of common sense and alert-
ness at all times when using the table saw.

This table saw is not recommended for cutting metals, such as aluminum
or copper, even with a special blade designed to cut these materials .
This table saw is not recommended for cutting any masonry material,
even with abrasive cutoff wheels .
