Preparing Special Har‐
vester for Operation
5.1
Preparing the Harvester for
Operation
The following steps must be performed before
commencing work:
► Ensure that the following components are in a
safe condition:
– Special harvester,
– Rakes,

– Battery as described in the STIHL AR L bat‐
tery's User Manual or in the User Manual for
the "AP belt bag with connecting cable".
► Check the battery as described in the STIHL
AR L battery's User Manual or in the User
Manual for the "AP belt bag with connecting
cable".
► Fully charge battery as described in the User
Manual for the STIHL AL 101, 301, 301-4, 500
chargers.
► Clean the special harvester,
► Fit the tines,

► Adjust length of shaft (SPA 140.0),
► Put on and adjust the STIHL AR L battery or
"AP belt bag with connecting cable".
► Check the controls,
► If you cannot carry out these steps: Do not use
the harvester; contact a STIHL authorized
dealer for assistance.

Fitting and Removing the Tines

Fitting the Tines
► Switch off the harvester and pull the connect‐
ing cable plug out of the socket.

5 Preparing Special Harvester for Operation
► Screw the tine (1) into the rake (2) and tighten
it down by hand.
► Position the key (3) on the tine (1) and tighten
it down by hand.
The tine is flush with the rake.

Removing the Tines
► Switch off the harvester and pull the connect‐
ing cable plug out of the socket.
► Use the key to loosen the tine.
► Unscrew the tines by hand.

Adjusting Carrying System to Suit
User's Height
The carrying system can be set to positions S, M
or L to suit the user's height.

► Depress the locking tab (1) and push it in
direction of arrow.
► Remove the slide (2).

► Line up mark (3) with mark (4).
► Fit the slide (2).
► Pull the slide (2) up (in opposite direction to
arrow).
The slide (2) engages with a click.
► Set slide (2) to same position on left and right
shoulder straps.
