7.3.1

Diagnosis with the LEDs of the bus coupler

The four LEDs on the bus coupler show messages according to
Table 11

Regularly check the diagnostic indications before
commissioning and during operation.

The bus coupler is in "data exchange mode", i.e. the
BF
slave is corrrectly setup and communicates with the
master in cycles (RUN).
Red
Bus error, the bus coupler tries to connect, i.e. the
slave is searching for the master. Possible causes:
Bus cable is not attached
Master has been switched off

This display appears only as long as the overloaded output is activated.

Diagnosis

To use the diagnosis in IndraWorks, click on the menu option
Ansicht, Diagnose (View, Diagnosis).
In addition to the Profibus standard diagnosis, the BDC-B-DP_32
module also sends a 7-byte user diagnosis.
The length of the data field is transferred in byte 1 (= 7) and the
user-specific diagnosis is transferred in byte 2. The meaning of
the bits is shown in Table 8. Bits 5-7 must have a value of 0.
