Anchor point:
Element which is sufficiently stable and strong, mounted on a
sufficiently strong fixed structure to which personal protective
equipment can be attached.
Rescuer:
Person trained and qualified to rescue a person in distress at
heights.
Customer service:
Company or department authorised by the Tractel

Fall arrest system:
Personal protective equipment ensuring protection against falls
from heights, comprising a fall arrest harness and a connecting
sub-system designed to stop a fall.
2.2. Pictograms

3. Overview and description

3.1. Overview
Rescue harnesses are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
They are used to create a fastening point on the operator in
order to evacuate the operator under acceptable safety
conditions. The rescue harnesses are formed by straps, buckles
and fabric. They are designed to adapt to the size of the person
to be evacuated (S, M and XL sizes) by 3 fastening
configurations. See fig. 4.2.1 Installation.
The rescue harnesses can be connected to an evacuation
system as described in standard EN 341 or to a lift-out rescue
system as described in standard EN 1496.
IMPORTANT: The rescue harness is designed for the
rescue or evacuation of persons weighing between 30 and
150 kg. It is compliant with the requirements of standard EN
1498 – 2006 class B.
3.2. Description

The equipment is supplied in a plastic package with user and
servicing manual and compliance statement.
Keep the original package for storage and transport of the
equipment.
3.3. Compliance

3.4. Materials used
The materials used in construction of the equipment described in
this manual are as follows:
• Webbing + stitching: polyester.
• Fabric: coated polyamide.
• Elastic strap: polyamide and elastic.
• Buckle: plastic.
3.5. Associated components
The associated components are supplied with their user
manuals.
IMPORTANT: You must carefully read and understand
all of the instructions given in the user manual for each
component of the concerned system.
The evacuation system comprises the following components:
• An anchor (EN 795).
• A connector (EN 362).
• A rescue hoist (EN 1496) or a descender (EN 341).
• A connector (EN 362).
• A rescue harness (EN 1498).
DANGER:
The rescue harnesses are designed for evacuation of
persons performing work at heights. In this respect,
remember that work performed at heights is subject to the
following measures:
• Persons working at heights must be physically and
psychologically fit for working at heights.
• Persons working at heights must be specially trained
for this purpose.
• Work performed at heights is prohibited for pregnant
women.
• A rescue plan must be prepared before starting any
work at heights.

4.1. Checks before installation
