7. Periodic checks, servicing and
maintenance, service life
7.1. Periodic checks
IMPORTANT:
An annual inspection must be performed every 12 months
by Tractel
®
or by a trained and qualified person authorising
use of the harness in writing.

The results of the annual inspection must be entered on the
detachable inspection sheet located at the centre of this
manual.
DANGER:
• For his own safety, the operator must perform regular
periodic checks on his equipment to ensure it is
functioning efficiently and satisfy the necessary strength
requirements.
• An annual inspection is mandatory. Depending on the
frequency of use, the environmental conditions and the
regulations at the company or country in which the
harness is used, more frequent periodic checks may be
required.
• The periodic checks must be performed by Tractel
a person trained for this purpose in observance of the
manufacturer's inspection procedures.
• The legibility of the equipment markings (see fig. 9) must
be checked during the periodic inspection.
The rescue harnesses are non-repairable products. Any product
showing the least defect must be taken out of service and
scrapped.

7.2. Servicing and maintenance

• If the rescue harness is dirty, wash it with clear, cold water,
possibly using a detergent for fragile fabrics, and a synthetic
brush. Machine washing and dry cleaning is prohibited.
• If a rescue harness is wet, allow it to dry naturally in the shade
away from any source of heat.
7.3. Service life
The equipment described in this manual has a service life of six
years.
8. Scrapping and protection of
the environment
IMPORTANT:
Before scrapping, a rescue harness must be neutralised to
prevent any future use.
For a rescue harness to be scrapped it must be processed in
accordance with the applicable regulations in the country in
which the harness has been used.

9. Product markings

The label on each rescue harness indicates:
a: the trademark: Tractel,
b: the product name,
c: the reference standard followed by the year of application,
d: the product reference: ex 010042,
f: the year and week of manufacture,
g: the serial number,
h: a pictogram indicating that you must read the manual before
use,
w: the working load limit.
