7. Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation
Clean the external surface of the handpiece and the relative cord using a cloth slightly
dampened with water or non-alcoholic disinfectant.
✓ The packaging is not airtight.
✓ Do not immerse the unit in ultrasound cleaners.
✓ Never, for any reason, spray liquid substances on the unit, especially on the
monitor or in proximity of the electrical sockets.
The micromotor, including the cable and connector, can be sterilised in an autoclave as
long as the following instructions are followed:
✓ Insert the motor safety cover.
✓ Place the micromotor, cable and connector in a bag suitable for sterilisation
(refer to the recommendations by the autoclave manufacturer).
✓ Sterilise using a steam temperature of 121°C for 15 minutes.
✓ Do not use the micromotor again if its temperature is not below 40°C.
Infection hazard if the following instructions are not complied with:
✓ The sterilisation temperature must not exceed 135°C.
✓ Do not place the components in any kind of solution.
✓ Do not use ultrasound systems.
✓ Adequate maintenance and periodic operating and temperature checks of
the autoclave are necessary.
