3) Place the food that needs a medium cooking
time in the middle steam attachment 2 4.
4) Carefully open the lid 1 by lifting it at the back
first to let the steam escape away from you.
5) Remove the lid 1 and place the middle steam
attachment 2 4 with the food on the lower
steam attachment 1 5.
6) Put the lid 1 back on and let the steamer
continue to work.
7) Place the food with the shortest cooking time in
the upper steam attachment 3 3 and place it
on the middle one as described previously.
■
Note that the cooking time in the middle and
upper steam attachment 4/3 will increase by
approx. 5-10 minutes and adjust the cooking
time accordingly.
■
The taste of the food can be transferred via the
condensation water. Therefore, always place
fish and meat in the lower steam attachment 5.
The best way to steam
■
Make sure that all the pieces are about the same
size. If they are different sizes and you need to
layer them, put the smaller pieces on top.
■
Note that one layer of food cooks faster than
several layers. Therefore, the cooking time
increases with the quantity of food.
■
Be careful not to cover the openings in the
base plate z of the steam attachments 5/
4/3 completely with food to allow the steam
to circulate freely.
■
Stir or rearrange the food halfway through the
cooking time if you are steaming larger quantities.

to reduce the steaming time slightly.
Cooking times
The steaming times given in the tables are purely
guide values. The cooking time varies depending
on the size of the food, freshness of the food,
filling quantity, position of the steam baskets (top
or bottom) and personal preferences (soft or firm
to the bite). Therefore, check the cooking status as
described in the section Checking the cooking
point.
Unless otherwise stated, the steaming times refer
to use in the lower steam attachment 5. The food
in the middle and upper steam attachment 4/3
takes about 5-10 minutes longer.
All steaming times refer to use with cold water.
Vegetables
■
Remove thick stalks from cauliflower, broccoli
and cabbage vegetables.
■
Chop the vegetables into pieces of about the
same size.
■
Steam leafy vegetables for as short a time as
possible, otherwise they will lose their colour
easily.
■
Season and salt the vegetables only after
steaming.
■
Frozen vegetables do not need to be defrosted
before steaming. With frozen vegetables, the
steaming time is extended by a few minutes.
Notes
–
place in the steam attachment 5/4/3 with
the opening facing downwards so that conden-
sation water can drain off
