Target audience
This guide is intended for those who are responsible for setting up and configuring Digi devices, and who are trained
to operate the equipment connected to the Connect WS to ensure that the product is safe and fully functional.
Installation requirements
Make sure the Connect WS installation is performed by IT personnel with at least one year of experience operating
network equipment within the intended environment.
Any additional required configuration or troubleshooting for the Connect WS is performed remotely with the third
party software and equipment and follows specific procedures provided by the Systems Integrator.
Personnel connecting and configuring devices to the Connect WS should have knowledge of how these devices work
and the proper procedures for configuring their serial ports, as defined in the documentation provided with the
equipment.
The personnel responsible for configuring and verifying proper communication between an attached device and the
data acquisition system that is monitoring this data should have knowledge of the correct configuration methods and
procedures, as defined in the materials provided with the data acquisition system.
The System Integrator is responsible to ensure compliance with any country-specific regulations that pertain when
installing or implementing a solution that uses this product.

Connect WS Hardware Reference Manual
Do not modify the Connect WS terminal server or cables, or mount it in any way other than instructed in
this guide. Any modification to the hardware can prevent proper functioning and cause damage to the
connected device.
When deploying the Connect WS in an environment subject to IEC 60601-1, refer to the requirements
applicable to medical equipment systems in the standard.
