Connect WS models

The Connect WS terminal server has three models, consisting of one, four, or eight RS-232 serial ports with 8p/8c RJ-
45 connectors. This device also includes a single RJ-45 802.3 10/100 Ethernet port with Power over Ethernet
capability. Moreover, the Connect WS provides 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi capability with embedded main and diversity
antennas.

Powering the Connect WS

The Connect WS is powered via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) or an AC mains power cord. If both PoE and a power cord
are plugged into the device, it will access power via the AC power supply. In this case, a minimum current is drawn
from the PoE supply to maintain the power signature of the Connect WS. The PoE in the Connect WS is responsible for
keeping the power signature continuous.
During power transitions from AC/DC to PoE and vice versa, the device may or may not go through a reset; therefore,
seamless power transition is not guaranteed in either direction. After you have connected the power supply and
powered the device on, the Power LED will be solid green. In case of system failure, the Connect WS is designed to
maintain its settings through the use of its internal non-volatile storage.

Mounting the Connect WS

The Connect WS features a VESA 75 mounting pattern located on the back of the enclosure. This gives you the option
to fix mount the device on a wall or cart/stand using a 75 x 75 mm VESA adapter. The following image displays the
VESA mounting pattern.
The VESA adapter and tools needed for installation are not included. Commercially available VESA mounts and
mounting tools may be used by personnel familiar with their use. Maximum torque for the VESA screws should not
exceed 2.5 N.m (22 in-lbf).
