3.4.2. START-UP. PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS TO MIG/MAG WELDING.
The system connection must be made depending on the welding process chosen, as indicated in the previous
chapter. Before definitely starting up the system, carry out the following operations:
1º) Make sure the mains voltage is 230 V.
2º) Change the polarity if it is necessary. Polarity to negative (for tubular wire without gas). See 3.4.1.3.
3º) If the material to be welded is aluminium, change the wire conduit and the wire guide tube for the graphite
wire conduit with the torch totally stretched.
Leave the wire conduit as
near the contact tip as
possible.
4º) According to the wire diameter, fit the groove of the suitable driving wheel to the work that is going to
develop.
5º) Choose the suitable gas to wire type to be welded. If it has a mobile workstation, check that the gas bottle is
securely held by the bottle-holder system. Above all check that the safety chain is perfectly fastened.
6º) Install the pressure regulator 6 and connect the gas hose 5 checking that there are no leakages, throughout
the whole circuit. Gas flow must be between 8-12 l/min.
7º) Connect the cooling unit to equipment using the cable 13 (cooled system).
8º) Place the wire reel into the support axle L.
9º) Fit the wire into the driving system. Do not force the wire pressure handle M, as if this is too tight, the motor
remains on overload and does not reach the maximum speed, and if the handle is too slack, the wire could
slip. (MIG/MAG).
10º) Once the wire has been fitted, we can then hook up the torch 7 or 14 (cooled system) to euroconnector B.
11º) Respecting the colours blue and red, connect the hoses 12 to torch 14 and cooling unit (cooled system).
12º) Connect supply cable H with the suitable plug to the relevant single-phase tap. See section 2.2.
13º) Bleed gas by means P5 button, checking that the flow is between 8 and 14 l/min. Wire-bleed.
14º) Switch on the cooling and check that coolant liquid is within the indicated levels (cooled system).
15º) Select in the Control Panel within the cooling process between the options Switch-on or Automatic "REF→ON
or AUT" (cooled system).

Screw in the wire conduit
fastening stop.
P5: TO PURGE GAS
Gas purge. The gas solenoid
valve is activated whilst
depressed. The solenoid valve
activation is prolonged for
two seconds after pressing.
Secure the wire conduit with
the locknut and trim the
excess wire conduit leaving
it at the right measurement.
P6: TO BLEED WIRE
The drive motor is
activated whilst
depressed.
49
Leave the wire conduit
as close as possible to
the driving motor roller.
