drainable "Roll'Up" pouches for colostomates with soft or
liquid stools and ileostomates; and drainable "Uro" pouches
for urostomates.
The Soft Convex skin protector Flexima-Softima Active
O'Convex is specifically designed to ensure a secure seal
around stomas which are
located in shallow to moderately deep skin folds,
flush or slightly retracted.
The soft convex skin protector helps to prevent leakages, by
tight-fitting the peristomal area. For extra security you can
use one out of the three positions (H,I) of the belt loops of
the soft convex skin protector to fix the belt.
Clinical benefits & performances:
Ostomy appliances compensate for the loss of faecal and/
or urinary continence.
Patient population:
Enterostomates and urostomates adults or children above
four years.
Contraindication:
There are no formal contraindications for the use of
Flexima® / Softima® Active.
Residual risks or side effects:
Peristomal skin complications can occur while using
Flexima® / Softima® Active.
1
Preparing the skin
Wash your hands before starting the procedure.
Gently clean the peristomal area with lukewarm water.
Avoid ether, alcohol or any other topical product which
could interfere with base plate adhesion. Carefully dab dry
the skin with soft and non-shedding cloths.
2
Preparing the base plate
If you are using a Cut-To-Fit product, cut the central
opening of the hydrocolloid adhesive to the size of your
stoma (A) possibly with the help of the Stoma Guide. Do
not cut beyond the maximum possible diameter and make
sure that there is always a 2 to 3 mm margin around your
stoma in order not to strangle or hurt the stomal mucosa.
Note : Pre-Cut products are not intended to be cut out.
In order to improve the adhesion of the Flexima-Softima
Active O'Convex "Roll'Up" and the Flexima-Softima Active
O'Convex Uro place hands over the base plate to warm it up.
3
Fitting your appliance
Peel off the release. Position the bottom of the skin protector
around the base of the stoma (B).
Press the bottom part of the skin protector smoothly onto
the skin, then place and press onto the upper part (the
skin protector is flexible and adapts perfectly to body
movements) (C).
In case of error in the positioning, it is possible to remove
the pouch and replace it properly. If you wish to use a
belt (with a convex product), choose two loops that are
diametrically opposed (H,I).
