Air motor assembly
Adapter assembly
1 Install and seat back-up washer (19) and
block-V packing (18) [lips upward] into
the adapter assembly.
2 Use care not to distort the back-up
washer.

Notice
Prior to assembly, certain compo-
nents require lubrication. Refer to
table 2 for details.
3 Install piston assembly (22, 23) into the
bottom of the adapter assembly.
4 Do not allow the cross holes to contact
the block-v packing.
5 Install o-ring (b) onto the pump's bush-
ing/packing screw as applicable.
6 Screw the pump's outlet body assembly
securely onto the adapter assembly.
7 Do not allow the cross holes to contact
the packing group.

Notice
If adapter assembly (20, 21) was
disassembled in error:
• Install the washer into the adapter.
• Tighten the tube (with Loctite 277)
into the adapter until it bottoms.
• Loosen the tube

-turn.

• Make sure the washer floats.
8 Tighten the jam nut as applicable.

Notice
If piston assembly (22, 23) was
dis- assembled in error:
• Screw the spud (with loctite 277)
(w/o cotter pin hole) securely into the
top of the piston tube.
Important: the cross holes are located

in. (13 cm) from the top of the pis-

ton tube. See figure 2.
• Screw the plug (with Loctite 277)
securely into the additional spud.
• Screw the spud and plug assembly
(with Loctite 277) securely into the
piston tube.
Valve assembly
1 Position packing (9) "top side" upward.
2 Install washer (8) onto the top of
packing (9).
3 Install washer (10) onto the bottom of
the packing.
4 Install and seat the packing assembly
(top side first) onto adapter (4).
5 Install spacer (12) onto the adapter.
6 Install washer (11) and spring (13) onto
the spacer.
7 Install each gasket (16) onto each
screw (15).
8 Install each screw and gasket assembly
into washer (11) and packing (9) with
Loctite 227.
9 Rotate the washer as required.

Notice
Do not switch washers (8) and
(10). Air leakage will occur.

Notice
Washer (8) is slightly thicker than
washer (10).

10 Install washer (14) onto the adapter.
11 Install gasket (5) into the top of piston
assembly (22, 23) or rod (27).
12 Screw the adapter assembly into the
piston assembly or rod.
13 Torque the adapter to 20 ft.lbf. (27 Nm).
14 Install each spacer (6) onto the screws.
15 Install o-ring (3) onto plate (2).
16 Install the plate assembly onto the screws.
17 Secure the plate with nuts (7).
18 Torque the nuts from 23 to 27 in.lbf.
(2.6 to 3.1 Nm).
Cylinder assembly
1 Install o-ring (17) onto the adapter.
2 Screw cylinder assembly (1) onto
the adapter.
3 Use care passing the packing and o-ring.
Attach air motor to
pump tube

Check the motor for air leakage. If the mo-
tor leaks, refer to the Troubleshooting chart
page 18 for details.
