Preparing the battery for use

Note:
The new starter battery is neither filled with battery
acid nor has it been charged.
Removing the battery
– Unscrew wing nuts holding battery in place.
– Lift off battery cover.
– Disconnect battery cables – minus pole (black
cable) first, then plus pole (red cable.
– Lift battery out of sweeper.
Filling up and charging the battery
Observe safety information concerning

handling of battery acid – see Chapter:
Maintenance.
– Remove all six caps on battery.
– Remove cap from bottle containing acid, and slowly
and carefully fill each battery cell up to MAX line.
– Allow battery to stand for 30 minutes with caps
removed, so that the fumes that are created can
dissipate. Finally, refit caps onto battery cells.
– Charge battery using Charger 6.654-083.
Attaching battery to sweeper
– Wind venting hose around battery, and feed it past
engine towards rear of sweeper.
– Connect plus pole first of all, and then minus pole.
– Secure battery on sweeper.
