General information on this fi tting instruction
Dear Customer,
We are happy that you have decided to purchase a
Volkswagen Zubehör (Volkswagen Accessories) product.
The work steps and safety instructions given in these
installation instructions absolutely must be adhered to.
Any liability for damage that occurs because of non-
adherence to these is ruled out.
Note:
We recommend that fi tting be carried out by a specialist
workshop.
This booklet contains important information and
warnings regarding use your vehicle. Refer to your
service wallet for further information concerning your
safety and the safety of your passengers.

details concerning scope of delivery, design and function

Note:
When using the designer double bar, it has to be
installed fi rst so that the fastening points can be used
when installing the luggage compartment cover.
When installing the plastic luggage compartment cover
and the designer double bar, you also require the end
cap set 2H0 071 720 B.
Caution!
When closing, always close the tailgate fi rst and then
the cover. Otherwise the locking devices will become
damaged.
Before you start driving, always close and lock the
tailgate and the cover.
If a cover is not properly locked, it may open and
become damaged or damage the vehicle during the
journey.
Cleaning and care
Use plastic care products only!
Do not use any care products which contain abrasives -
damage to paintwork!
The gas struts are maintenance-free. Any additionally
applied lubricants may damage the seals in the gas strut.
Only wipe gas struts with a damp cloth.
The cylinder of the gas strut must be fastened to the
cover. Otherwise the warranty will be rendered null and
void.
Lubricate the locking mechanism and the hinges with
graphite powder.
Do not use any other greases or oils for lubrication.
Otherwise the warranty will be rendered null and void.
Check all screw connections and hinges at regular
intervals, ideally before each journey.

Important information on the luggage compartment
cover
Before installing, read the installation instructions fully!
We recommend that installation is carried out by a
specialist workshop.
Install the luggage compartment cover, following the
installation instructions exactly. A fault or damage can
result in an improper fastening or setting.
Do not stand or sit on the cover and do not deposit any
heavy objects on it - risk of damage!
Do not transport any people or animals underneath the
cover.
Close the cover before you start driving.
Do not transport any open, combustible or explosive
substances underneath the cover.
Wash off corrosive chemicals with a mild detergent
liquid and water.
We recommend you perform installation with the help of
a second person.
After installation the installation instructions must be
handed over to the user to ensure proper use.
Anti-corrosion treatment
Note:
All drill holes must be de-burred from both sides. Metal
shavings must be removed / vacuumed up immediately,
and you must make sure that no shavings fall into the
hollow space in the body!
Application of paint (according to VW workshop manual
"Paint", see "ELSA").
1. Apply primer.
2. Allow the primer to dry in accordance with the item
description. A hot-air dryer can be used, if necessary.
3. Apply base coat appropriate to the vehicle-specifi c
paint colour.
4. Allow the base coat to dry in accordance with the item
description. A hot-air dryer can be used, if necessary.
Note:
There must be no waxes, coatings or plastic parts in the
entire fastening area!
