Battery Capacity Tester / EN
4. OPERATION
4-1 Operation
Do not attempt to measure DC voltage exceeding 60V. Do not attempt to
measure AC voltages. This could result in injury or damage to the unit.
Do not attempt to measure the voltage of a generator. This would result in an
AC voltage being applied to the voltage generating output terminals, which is
dangerous.
After measuring a high voltage battery, short the measurement leads together
before continuing to measure a low voltage battery. This will discharge the
internal capacitance of the Tester. Otherwise an excess voltage may be
applied to the low voltage battery, which is dangerous.
1.
Connect the RED test lead to the SOURCE + terminal,
i.
the BLACK test lead to the SOURCE – terminal,
ii.
the YELLOW test lead to the SENSE + terminal, and
iii.
the BLUE test lead to the SENSE – terminal.
2.
Connect the BLUE miniature plug of the clip type test lead with temperature
sensor to the TEMP. SENSOR jack.
3.
Rotate the resistance range switch to the desired position.
4.
Carry out the zero adjustment (for detail, see section 4-2).
5.
Connect either the red probe / crocodile clip of the test lead to the positive (+) side
of the battery to be tested and the black probe / crocodile clip to the negative (–)
side.
Note: both test lead types utilize a 4 wire connection method; the outer shield
conductor of the probe or one jaw of the clip connects to the SOURCE terminals
and the inner pin of the probe or the second jaw of the crocodile clip connects to
the SENSE terminals.
When using the probe type test leads push each probe firmly onto the battery
terminal to ensure that the inner pin and outer metal sleeve make full contact with
the respective battery terminal.
When using the clip type leads ensure both jaws of each crocodile clip make
contact with the respective battery terminal.
