Troubleshooting - Bosch J 41413-200 Operación Manual

In order to obtain accurate test results, remember to use a scan tool to close or block the vehicle's
vapor purge system before you begin testing.
Problem
Red power indicator lamp on
the tester does not come ON.
Tester's red power indicator
lamp flashes, or smoke quality
and/or velocity is poor.
Smoke does not come out of
nitrogen/smoke hose,
or
Nitrogen does not come out
of nitrogen/smoke hose.
Low flow in NITROGEN
mode, or erratic motion of
ball in flowmeter.
Cause
1. Power supply cable not
connected to battery.
2. Poor power supply cable
connection.
3. Power cables are reversed.
4. Dead battery.
1. Low vehicle battery voltage.
1. Nitrogen supply not
connected.
2. Smoke fluid level low.
3. Supply valve on nitrogen tank
and/or regulator closed.
4. Low pressure in nitrogen tank.
5. Tester output pressure out of
calibration.
1. Smoke condensed in
nitrogen/smoke hose.
CAUTION: To prevent
personal injury,
•
Do NOT inject air into a
coiled hose.
•
Clamp free end of nitrogen/
smoke blue hose before
injecting shop air.

Troubleshooting

Solution
1. Connect power supply cable
to battery.
2. Check connection at positive
terminal and chassis ground by
wiggling clamps.
3. Check polarity of battery
clamps.
4. Verify battery is fully
charged.
1. Charge vehicle's battery.
1. Connect nitrogen supply.
2. Refer to Fluid Change
Procedure in this manual, and
refill smoke reservoir.
3. Open supply valve on
nitrogen tank and/or regulator.
4. Replace nitrogen tank.
5. Connect nitrogen/smoke
hose to self-test port, and
adjust regulator so pressure
reads 13" H O. (Refer to the

Maintenance section of this
manual for instructions.)
1. Disconnect nitrogen/smoke
hose from vehicle; turn
NITROGEN/SMOKE valve to
NITROGEN; press and release
remote switch to activate tester
and purge residual smoke from
nitrogen/smoke hose.
2. If Step 1 does not correct the
condition, disconnect nitrogen/
smoke hose from vehicle;
disconnect blue hose from
tester; stretch blue hose into a
straight line; inject shop air to
remove excess fluid.
