forward on the forks. This is the most dangerous
condition for a forklift. Capacity of the forklift is
always specified by giving load capacity, load
center and maximum lifting height.
Load capacity (Weight)
Load capacity is the maximum weight of
material that can be handled on the forks at a
specific load center. The load capacity varies if
the load has a different load center.
Load canter (LC)
Load center is the distance from the backrest to
the center of gravity of the load, which is the
center of an evenly distributed load.

Maximum lifting height
Maximum lifting height is the highest position of
the forks with the mast in a vertical position.
4. 7 How to read a nameplate
Be sure to check the nameplate for load
capacity and load center before starting to use
the forklift truck. Please refer to the Operator
Manual of each forklift model that you operate
for the information indicated on the nameplate.

In addition to the nameplate, the truck has
warning labels (caution plates) that provide
safety information to operators. Be sure to read
and obey all warning labels attached to the
truck. If the warning labels are missing,
damaged or illegible, ask the supervisor or the
Service Centre and replace them.
See the Operator Manual of each forklift model
that you operate for the location of the warning
labels.
Warning labels
Warning labels include signal words,
pictographs, and text to explain the level of
danger, dangerous incidents that might happen,
and how to avoid them.
Signal words (colors)
For the definition of the following each signal
words, see "Safety Precautions" section.
